Mmm cake

*J9*, 24 July, 2013 at 13:59 Posted on Planning 0 12

I can't decide what kind of cake I want! I keep looking at all these different designs and one minute I want a fairly simple cake, with not much fuss, then I see something completely different with a fair bit of decoration and I change my mind. And then change it back again!

How did you all decide on your cakes?

I couldn't decide whether to have a sponge cake or the traditional fruit wedding cake.......

I'm only having 1 tier and I decided the decoration would be something simple but classy ?

If you're like me, you don't! You end up choosing loads of little things instead and have a dessert table with variety Smiley smile

I'm finding it really hard. I'd like one layer sponge and one layer choc and my dad is making me have a fruit layer too (yuck!) but I want that to be the smallest layer as it goes so much further than sponges.

I just can't decide on how the cake should look!! I've seen so many different designs ?

Ours is going to be all fruit because i love it!! Also my mum is making it and it puts a bit less pressure on her because it can be done in advance.

I found mine after looking at LOADS on pinterest. I saw it and just loved it.

I was planning on something really rustic and simple looking and after a lot of looking had pretty much decided what I wanted. But then I bought my dress and it all changed! My dress is quite a heavy ivory lace over a champagne coloured satin - I saw this and I think it will really compliment my dress.

I'm planning on two or three tiers - one funfetti layer, one orange or lemon and if I go for three tiers I'll probably have a chocolate one on the top.

    I can't decide between:

    • Traditional cake
    • Cheese cake (tower of cheeses)
    • Donut tower (just to be a bit different).

I really do keep changing my mind!

We had mini cakes, with one big cake for cutting up and giving to people not at the wedding (though we've now frozen the rest to eat at our 1st anniversary) I chose chocolate orange because it's my favourite type of chocolate Smiley smile

I just decided on the colour I wanted, then googled to get ideas.

I spent ages googling images for inspiration and realised I'd be better off just designing one myself for my sister to make.

4 designs later, we eventually agreed on a basic style (OH didn't know anything about it) and my sister ran with it as a brief.

3 tiers became 4, double stack. 1 lemon madeira, 1 vanilla madeira and 2 chocolate mud. Pewter fondant and ribbon. Pleats and gem work to reflect the design of my dress.

Then I left her to it and only saw the cake on arrival at our reception :0)

Loved all 18 inches of it!

Well neither me or H2B like icing so that rules that out for us.

H2B only likes chocolate cake... so that's a definite.

I'm vegan so it's a vegan, icingless chocolate cake for us ?

This is mine but I'm having a willow tree topper.

We are having 3 tiers one baileys sponge, one chocolate and one plain and then a separate fruit cake for cutting.
