I need a new mobile phone. I have a spanky new iPod which, apart from not being able to make phonecalls and having to rely on WiFi, satisifies my app/internet/music/etc needs, so an iPhone wouldn't be so obvious, although if it were genuinely the best out there, I'd have one. A man in a shop tried to get me to sign up for a Samsung Galaxy SII - any experience of this handset? What do you girls have?

I was umming and ahing for a while about phones. My other half has a HTC Desire HD and I loved it but after reading reviews of the Galaxy SII I decided to go for that as all the reviews are very ,very good.

I'm so glad I waited for it to come out on Orange. It's simply gorgeous, the AMOLED+ screen looks superb and because it's so slim and light it's easier to hold than the Desire HD. I was shocked when I got it out of the box, it weighs next to nothing, even less than my old w995 non-smartphone, it's also better specced than the Desire HD with it's dual core processor,1 GB ram and front facing camera.

I so love it and wonder what i did before I had it it's so slick and fast to use, very very responsive. I've even had iphone 4 users gazing at it in awe. Android app shop isn't as slick and full as the iphone version but it's nice not to be tied into itunes which I don't use normally and as there's so much variety in the android running phone market I think the app shop will only get better and more fully fledged - it's good enough for me as it is and has a wealth of apps to chose from I've got some great ones already.

One thing's for sure though, you wouldn't want a screen bigger than 4.3", it's a bit wide when holding it to the ear to use it as (god forbid) a phone, but manageable -especially on the Samsung because of it's tiny size and weight, for everything else though the screen is superb. Battery life isn't too bad, about a day with heavy use and it'd probably last a lot longer if I wasn't playing Angry birds and surfing all the time!!

Girls, thanks for all the responses. I think I will go for the Galaxy SII. I can access apps/iTunes/etc via my iPod and also take advantage of everything that Android can offer. And maybe use it as a telephone occasionally. Thanks again.

Just makes me cuckle that phones are hardly used now for phoning! When my phone rings I do look at it and think 'awwww just email me instead' ?

Sammy I've got a feeling I won't like the LG but when my H said he really wanted one I did think to myself well I'll get one before you and then not let you play it! Childish I know ?
