Monday Challenge - a bridal bouquet

PhoenixAngelic, 30 January, 2012 at 16:07 Posted on Planning 0 12

I thought I'd set my fellow hitchers a challenge and see what amazing ideas come back on this one.

I need to choose a bouquet/posy for me to hold on my wedding day. We have a semi-oriental theme (in honour of H2B's Chinese ancestry) but are not overdoing this.

I am wearing a beautiful but very grown up dress which is champagne satin with ivory lace (with bits of sparkle) overlay. It is a slim fitting style. As a not-first-time-around-40-something bride I am also wary of going OTT with any of it.

I don't need an enormous bouquet - been there and done it. I want something clever but simple. It doesn't need to be orchids either.

Am being brave - this is a flash of me in my frock (minus my face!) to give you an idea. The dress is more creamy in real life. I may have a mandarin collar lace bolero on the day and my hair may be up (haven't decided that bit yet).

So over to you!

agreed! these would go beautiful with your dress, infact any lillies, they always look amazing in a "effortless" sort of way ....you look amazing in the dress btw, i remember you saying in a previous thread that you had lost a lot of weight- well done it looks like it was well worth it!!

How about having something with cherry blossoms in? Something like this:

Thank you! Definitely has been worth it. Just hope that my H2B gets a 'OMG' moment for all the right reasons on the day! lol

In terms of flowers, am liking the shape of the lily bouquets more than the more circular/round shapes.

Love the idea of something really unusual but it would need to be on the smaller/medium size, rather than large.

Definitely would prefer real flowers, possibly with something else (sparkle or other materials) worked in.

Keep those ideas coming! Thank you to everyone who has contributed thus far.

Not sure, although might be worth ringing round some of your local florists to see if they would be able to source them, and if so, a rough cost. Dependant on the time of year you're getting married I woulnd't think they would be impossible to get hold of!

    Hi there,

I think red would be a fantastic colour for your bouquet!

Above are Gloriosa lillies(which dont look like a lilly at all) They still look exotic but are different to orchids. Red calla lillies are great too.....you could have a sheaf bouquet(in picture 3) in red callas (use your imagination from middle picture lol) and have some gloriosa mixed in around the base. You could have less leaves and more grass or re-jigg it to get exactly what you want!?
