Money poems

Spangler, 30 September, 2009 at 16:32 Posted on Planning 0 22

How cute is this guys?? Totally thinking of using it!!

More than just kisses so far we've shared,
Our home has been made with Love and Care,
Most things we need we've already got,
And in our home we can't fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish .... but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we're sure
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.

Wow Spangles thats a very original poem you got there! Did you write it yourself?

I'm afraid i'm going to have to try and better you there.........

Because at first we lived in sin
We've got the sheets and a rubbish bin
A gift from you would be swell
But we'd prefer a donation to our Wishing Well!!

Living in sin .... tut tut

    Moony - I like yours!

Kettles and bedding we won't need too soon
What we'd love is to go on a honeymoon
Therefore, for those who feel so compelled
At our reception there will be a wishing well
So in leui of a present, it's cash we'd prefer
But most of all we just want you to be there (I'm guessing "there" is said as if the reader is Northern? - thurrr?!)

I am sure there are many more creative hitchers out there, perhaps we should have a competition for the best (worst?) ?

Heehee - not a fan of them either but general concensus was that a few of us thought we needed a thread to cheer us all up/ get us all involved.

Now the challenge has been set - WHO CAN FIND THE WORST MONEY POEM? The more vomit inducing the better!

    Give us all your dosh

It would mean so much more

    Than piles of useless presents

    Strewn across the floor

    ....lame I know?

We've been together for a few years now,
We have pots and pans, and linenes and towels,
We have a toaster and glasses, really quite a few,
So instead of more gifts we ask this of you.

If it doesnt offend and it wont send you running,
What we would really appreciate quite simply is money.
We know choosing gifts can be such a pain,
And this way there's no chance of bringing the same.

    So please dont be offended,
    Or think that we're brash,
But if thoughts were on presents,
    We'd much prefer cash.

    Or what about this

We hope that you will come along
    On this special day,
    To celebrate our union
    In a very special way.
Together we have been for a while now,
We collected all our household goods
    Before we took our Vows.
To make it easy for you
    And avoid the shopping hell,
We thought that we would have
    A little 'Money Well'.
So please don't be offended at our request,
Just seal it in this envelope
And come and be our guest

    Or this

An Ode to the Gift List

    In a wedding invitation,
    You usually find some lists,
    For venues, menus and hotels,
    And also for the gifts

    But this one is unusual,
It comes in a different way,
As we're not asking for presents,
    But for something else today

Now please don't think we're selfish,
Or that this comes from greed,
But we've lived together for a while,
So there's not that much we need

    We would appreciate help though,
To send us on our way,
And allow us to have our honeymoon,
In a land quite far away

So now the point of all this rhyme,
The thing that we would like,
    Isn't towels, toasters or microwaves,
    But pounds and pence alike

And now you know the reason,
    Behind this cheeky accord,
Please help to give us memories,
    Of a dream honeymoon abroad

It just makes me cringe!!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!

Do people actually use these? x

To save you looking, shopping or buying.
Here is an idea, we hope you like trying!
Come to our wedding, to wish us both well.
And make some use of our little wishing well.
Just put some money into a card,
    Now make a wish…..see that wasn’t hard!
Now that we have saved you, all that fuss.
We hope you will come, and celebrate with us.
Please don’t be offended at this type of request,
As our day will be complete having you as our guest

We hope that you will join us,
    on this our special day,
    To celebrate our union
    in a very special way.

To make it easy for you
    and avoid a shopping spree
We thought that we would have instead,
    a little money tree.

    Because we've been together,
    for a while now,
We collected all our household things
    before we took our vows.

    An envelope has been included
for you to bless our tree,
No name is required for each gift,
    as anonymity is the key!

    So please don't be offended
at our new type of request,
    Just telling everyone our wish,
has really put us to the test!

blunt and to the point this 1

We have lived together in a beautiful bubble

and have furnished our home with love.

So we would prefer, without sounding brash

a shed load of your cash!!

I know, I know it's crap but I did make it up on the spur of the moment!

Usually to their face............ we didnt have a gift list, we didnt mention anything on our invitations. When people foned up or foned mum we would say vouchers would be preferred so we can go shopping and some guests even gave us cash in a card which we spent on food n drink on route to HM lol.

"Come to my wedding, but I'm not being funny,

Don't come, without a shed load of money."

Not very good, do you think I should use it?! ?They are truly grim aren't they? ?

Thanks. Hadnt thought about asking people, I think its rude. We got an invite for a wedding recently and they have given us a choice of two different gift lists and a bank account to drop money into, just thinks its all a bit odd. I dont think I will ask for anything. I want my guest to come and enjoy our day, at our expense, not theirs.
