Money Poems, has anyone heard of this? You put a poem in your invitation to your guest requesting for money instead of gifts. Even if you provide a wedding list, there's always a stubborn relatives that still want to buy you that toaster!! Great idea if you already have cupboards full of crockery!

We're having a honeymoon gift list and I love the idea of a little poem so we will definitely be having one - and embracing it! They are a bit naff but then weddings in general can be a bit naff! I think its slightly tongue in cheek asking this way rather than just straight out and a bit fun.

People are entitled to their opinions, one of the good things is you will get an honest answer on here i guess, but remember posts can be read in different ways and tone of voice isnt apparent so people can take offence when it may not be meant!

This is the one we're thinking of having

    We know it's not tradition

It's not the way it's done
But instead of a wedding list
We'd like a bit of sun
We've lived together quite a while
And all the bills are paid
We've got our plates, our pots and pans,
Our plans have all been made
We would appreciate your help though,
To send us on our way
    A contribution to our honeymoon
In a land quite far away
    But most importantly, we request,
You come to our wedding as our guest
To share with us our special day
And have some fun along the way

Snurton123, WE picked the same one as you.

I also have to agree with what you wrote.

It wouldn't be a forum if you didnt allow everyone to have an opinion. You will always get responses that you weren't expecting.

If you want to use a money poem use it, if you don't then don't. There are a few ladies on here who think it is rude to just come right out and ask for money, no matter how you word it and at the end of the day it's their right to say whatever they want, it's just that some people take it the wrong way.

I love the honesty of this place, it's like having virtual best friends close to hand to make sure you don't make that mistake of a really bad impulse buy, it's up to each individual how they take the advice given on here but it's not intended as "beating up", "harsh" or any other way other than people just trying to help.

You ask a question and you get everyones honest opinion, nothing else.

I'm not a ig fan of money poems but since my h2b is a hoarder I will be adding one to my invites but also doing a little gift list to give my guests an option and also to renew things that have just been lying at the bottom of a cupboard because they are broken.
