    Welcome to Hitched! ?

What sort of wedding have you booked? What have you already agreed/booked and cannot change?

What things are left that we can help source cheaper?

I picked up my side tiara and various other things on the sale area on here and that has saved me a lot of money.

    Estimating about £250!

Bargains can be found - just have to look hard Smiley smile

Don't be led to believe that you need lots of extra things to make your day a success - good food and good music are the 2 most important things!

Oh and DIY where you can - search google and pinterest for ideas and create it yourself for cheaper. I am making lots of bits myself and love seeing the finished product - very rewarding Smiley smile

Hitched discount codes for some Hitched Suppliers! Look out for them Smiley winking I saved 30% off my custom made tiara Smiley smile

We are getting our bridesmaid dresses off the high street.

we arent having canapes, just one welcome drink per guest.

I made my own invites which worked out at 89p per invite and rsvp card

we skipped save the dates to save.

spending time researching the things you really want for your wedding can also help you keep costs down. I really want chair covers and sashes, and found a really good deal over half the price of the ones sold at a local wedding fair. They aren't essential I know, but where there is a will there is a way to get some of the things you want in your budget.

im sure many will have better ideas for you! lol

    This exactly.

We have saved the most by not having things we don't need and spending extra where it counts

So no favours, no ushers, no gifts for bridal party, no cars, no guest book, no chair covers, no bows or unnessecary decorations,

Also opting for late wedding so there is no evening buffet.

A lot of things have been done for us for free, my sister is making my cake, my other sister is making jewellry.

Our honeymoon is a gift from the parents

So we are spending extra on the rings and on drink for everyone, and also contributing £200 per couple for them to stay at the venue

Our venue was great, and one of the advantages was that it had the cheapest priced wine! £8 a bottle and it was perfectly fine. Most other places were double that, or charged corkage which worked out more expensive, and that made a massive difference to the overall cost.

You don't need expensive cars, ask the people you know with the poshest cars if they would drive you or the BMs. I bet they will be thrilled. We asked a friend of FIL so it just cost us the price of an extra guest.

Evening buffets so often go to waste. We ordered a few whole cheeses, crackers and french bread. Nice crisps/nibbly bits instead of canapes, or do without.

Hair being done by local hairdresser (enthusiastic junior), makeup I did myself having got lessons at makeup counters, BMs had hair etc done by family, flowers were just 3 bouquets. Table decorations I did myself - charger plates, candles and glass chippings. Instead of favours we scattered chocolate dragees over the tables like edible table confetti - total cost £13 for all the guests, much less faff than favours but guests still had something to nibble on (I think most were hoovered up by the BMs)

We made our own cake. Still cost quite a bit in ingredients but H, my mum and I had wonderful fun making it. Beware that making things can really add up though - eg the cost of fruit, marzipan and icing for a 3 tier wedding cake is quite substantial. Similarly if making your own invitations you can spend a lot on card blanks, stampers, glue guns etc. So simplicity is much cheaper than making it yourself, even if the making is fun.

My colleague recently had her reception at her favourite restaurant. I think that's a wonderful way to have a fantastic day with excellent food, probably quite reasonably priced, and make it really personal.

We've ordered a couple of things from vistaprint. As well as their special offers, we got cash back each time from quidco. Very helpful!
