Money wedding presents

What is a reasonable amount to give to a friend as a wedding gift? Don't want the embarrassment of giving either too much or too little! TIA

    Hey Tanta,

I'm going to a friends wedding tomorrow (YAY!!) and my H2B and I are giving £50 between us. With our own wedding coming up its all we can really afford - also a bit riduculous, because when we marry in 2 months time we'll probably get exactly the same back from them!!! ;-)

I think £50 for the 2 of you is a decent amount! unless its a best friend if you wished give more. My dsd always says as long as your gift value kind of covers your dinner. lol.

I go by that rule - unfortunately 50 quid will not cover two guests dinners.... but its perfectly reasonable. I gave a best friend 100 quid but she kept going on about how generous we were (not intended to be that way - I just didn't know what was the norm) so I'm guessing most people went for about 50.
