People who stand still and on the wrong side of an escalator are annoying.

I agree with this except for the alcoholic bit, how can they help themselves any more or less than someone addicted to drugs, surely they are just as capable as each other of getting clean/sober or not ? (Disclaimer - I have never had close dealings with either a drug addict or alcoholic so I may not be aware of something that makes them very different things)

I am married to a man that can't spell, so on a personal level it doesn't matter, obviously I would rather take the bad spelled than the adulterer, but in the bigger life picture spelling matters, I would not employ someone who had made major spelling or grammatical errors on their application or during their assessment centre.

I have massive issues with alcoholics as my dad is one and I went through hell in my childhood. They shouldn't be allowed to by alcohol. There should be a pub watch type thing and in the supermarkets.

You should have been contributing to the tax/NI pots to get benefits/free healthcare.

    Immigration laws should be stricter.

prison sentencing should be more severe.

I don't think they can, I class an alcoholic as a drug addict. I didn't include them as I couldn't think of a way to put contraceptives in alcohol without adversely affecting the average person who enjoys a glass of wine. I meant that I don't think I would exclude alcoholics from free care, as being an alcoholic is far more addictive and difficult to break than smoking or overeating (IMO).

Just out of curiosity, what if you win the lottery etc? You maybe fit and able but choose not to work. You won't be claiming benefits but you won't be contributing income tax either?

I actually never knew you paid tax on savings. Dumb moment.

I think BBB's comment was with regards to people who don't work and expect the state to keep them despite never having paid anything in via taxes. If you won the lottery you would (usually) become financially independent and I presume you would pay tax on your savings so you would be contributing in some way and would not be taking money from the government and giving nothing back in return.

Being obsessive about conceiving a child, from day one of trying, is not good for your mental health.

Before being let loose with a pair of tweezers, young women should be taught about eyebrow maintenance and complimentary shaping.

The internet is breeding a generation of hypercondriacs who are unable to help themselves simply by being more positive.

People who don't read the op of a thread properly are a bit dim.

I wish someone had warned me of this when I was 16 and proceeded to pluck nearly every single hair from my eyebrows and ruin their shape forever. My face looks very odd now*.

*This may not be entirely due to having ultra thin, mismatched eyebrows.

This has made me laugh so much! It was a very good idea for a Monday. There are too many on here for me to comment on! Mine are:

No need to whine about having kid and how you have it so much harder than anyone else (particularly people who don’t have kids). No one made you have kids.

Coughing and not covering your mouth is unhygienic and vile. Ditto spitting.

No point in whining about you can’t afford to get married. You mean you can’t afford the wedding you want. There is a difference.

Raisins / currants / sultana’s etc are vile in all foods

It’s not pronounced muvver, it is pronounced mother. Brother not bruvver

Watch my ankles / legs with that pushchair, it’s not a weapon

People who can’t / won’t discipline their children

Don’t put your luggage on the tube seat, l will move it if l have to. Make that small child sit on your knee, they don’t need their own seat especially during rush hour when it’s busy

    The their / they’re / there / your / you're thing. Too annoying!

I am sure l can go on for days but l don’t want everyone in the whole world to hate me!

Not sure how unpopular these are but here goes...

Customers who want a bag for a sandwich they are about to eat (wasteful)

Men who get women pregnant and do a runner to another country (hi 'dad')

People who think that owning/riding a horse means they own the world (ughhhhh)

Women who go out in winter wearing next to nothing

Children who don't get told to stop staring/to shut up

Dog owners that don't clean up their dog cr*p

Facebook users that make a status every 3 minutes

Wow, I'm a pretty hateful person when I think about it...(I could write for hours)

The point is why choose to travel at rush hour if you don't have to? Until workplaces are more accepting of flexi hours, most people HAVE to travel in for 9am. I already leave the house at 7.15!

If you're on half term, why would you deliberately travel at those times if you don't have to?! And I bet I've paid ma dan sight more than my ticket than the I've year old has!

Small children should not take up a seat on the tube.

I thought this was meant to be *unpopular* opinions?

    Mine are:-

    1. Ugg boots are the ugliest shoe known to man, and you've just been conned into parting ith £150 because everyone else has.

    2. We are becoming an ignorant nation, with people who can't get the basics right (too/to, your/you're their/there/they're) and have no idea or interest in current affairs.

    3. People that give their toddlers juice etc all day long, in the middle of the night et (ie without brushing their teeth), should not be entitled to NHS dentistry services.

    4. Bankers aren't w******

    5. Fat people have themselves to blame. Fat kids have their parents to blame for setting them up for a lifetime of pain.

Ooh and as somebody else said, if you let your kid aimlessly run around a restaurant, coffee shop, basically anywhere that isn't a garden, soft play centre, park etc, then you are a bad parent. Fact.

I genuinely did a Lol then, thats DaddyMinis favourite phrase.

    Ok so a few of mine;

Just because I don't watch TOWIE does not make me odd

Just because I am not overweight, does not mean I am deaf (yep, still moaning about that one)

Just because I cant spell, does not make me a moron.

Just because I have an arts degree, does not mean its not valid.

If you consider wetherspoons a restaurant, you shouldn't go out.

If your child is screaming in a public place, you should try and calm it down as opposed to ignoring it, or even better telling it to "shut the f**k up"

If you like your steak cooked anything more than medium rare (at a push) you shouldn't eat steak.

Hot drinks shouldn't have more than one sugar in them at any one time.

Smoking/eating/drinking while driving is dangerous and should be banned the same as mobiles. Gay men speaking like the stereotype are attention seeking.

So many of these I agree with!

If you ride your bike on the pavement I should be allowed to push you off it and if you ride it through traffic lights when they are on RED then you deserve to get hurt.

(note I don't really want to cause people harm...honest!)

People who go on holiday to non-English speaking countries and make no effort to even say hello or thank you in the local language and expect everyone to speak English are ignorant.

Similarly for people who move to Wales and can't even pronounce their home town correctly (not saying for a minute that I expect them to learn Welsh, just learn how to pronounce the towns - if you don't know, ask someone). This annoyed me throughout the whole April Jones news coverage, where newsreaders could not pronounce the name of the town.

Just because you have a mental health problem does not mean you should not work. For mild-moderate mental health conditions, research suggests that work is good for you and can help to improve your symptoms. Yet, day after day, I see people asking me to give them a sick note, because they have 'depression'.

Sometimes Mr S and I walk along the Grand Union Canal to get to a nice pub that we like. It's a really popular route for cyclists and, in part, there is a cycle lane. The cycle lane runs between the pedestrian area and the canal. Each time someone rides past me I get an overwhelming urge to give them a huge shove so they'll fall in to the canal. I know it's mean, but I just can't help it! I feel it bubbling up as they approach me and I put my hands in my pockets, just in case! ?

Being overweight isn't always just about making the wrong food choices, it goes deeper than that.

People who make judgements or assumptions about someone based on their body shape are ignorant.

Putting the word 'Positive' before Discrimination doesn't make it acceptable behaviour. Any kind of discrimination is unacceptable.

Putting the word Black in front of an organisations name is deemed as being acceptable but putting the word White in front of an organisations name would be deemed as racist. Where is the consistency?

A years Military service should be introduced for all school leavers.

This one has been going round and round my head.... Fat kids have their parents to blame... yet fat people have themselves to blame, weren't they someones kids once?

Here's my latest one (stolen from mumdrum) Obsesity should be treated as the mental health disorder rather than telling people to stop eating too much. You don't tell bulimics etc to just eat and not make themselves ill.

It would be interesting to comapre costs gastric band surgery/costs from diabetes etc to counselling?
