Cheers cat, I'm not working so phew!

Mums not hosting xmas, infact shes never hosted xmas. She likes to be alone with no visitors, no need to put a face on and its a chance for her to clean her house. So my brother and I always pop in for a wee while after dinner at our prospective inlaws.

However, this year mums really hurt that both of us will put our partners mothers before her and gave me a right whinge down the fone so I reminded her how she is - non meat eating, non drinking, non sociable. And how every year shes declined any invite to spend xmas with someone.

branflakes... hmmm been a while since I had those. Maybe i'll have readybrek...

Morning everyone. It's like a morgue in my office today! We have a huge office and I can see just three people, including me. Pretty depressing, especially seeing as it doesn't actually seem to have gotten properly light yet!

Breakfast - a vanilla muller lite yoghurt and a Sainsbury's own brand Apple and Blackcurrant cereal bar. So exciting! Wishing it was a big greasy sausage sandwich ?

I just had my mixed fruit salad.... cuppa next.

Just had an email from my brother with major eye rolling and sighing going on. I think he's now going to see if he can get out to see her in the evening (otherwise he wouldnt be seeing her at all) and we might try and persuade her to come and see her grandkids on xmas morn......

why is my family so screwed up???? friends have often said how did I manage to turn out normal?? (tho i'm sure you'd laugh at that! hehe)

    kettles on!

    Morning

Listing some stuff on Ebay this morning after cooking a fry up for the kids. Doesn't feel one bit like Christmas, everything is done, food bought, pressies wrapped, house trimmed up but for some reason it just feels like an ordinary week.

I'm not far after you - 25th July 2010. It will be full steam ahead on the planning this summer I think! It's quite mad to think that it will be 'next year' in 2 weeks time!

    Good morning ladies,

I had a bowl of ASDA muesli for brekki - now I want some chocolate. ?

Ive still got lots of pressies to get and I have a large pile of work in my "intray" that I really need to get finished if I want to take tomorrow off.

I am so looking forward to this Christmas, but I really dont feel Christmassy either, not sure why though??

I get married 14th Aug 2010 and I cant wait to be able to say " we get married next year" the thought is so exciting and daunting at the same time!!

Now we've just had a big fight and i hung up on him! Meanwhile my mothers refusing the invite to see her grandkids and denying her 'I dont celebrate xmas' attitude and my OH is refusing to be told what to do.

So I've told my brother we wont be seeing him or seeing his children on xmas day. I feel awful as they wont get thier christmas presents now...... Just wanted to help him out and include mum somehow and its all gone wrong!!!!

Oh Nona have a hug ?

Could you not have your romantic morning till about 10 and then go and see your brother? THat's what we are doing - going to see my nephews for an hour about 10am then coming back to cook dinner. I wanted a lovely day with just me and h2b, he wanted it too but then his mum got upset because they wouldn't see him and there was no point putting up decorations if they were going to be on their own! THen his twin brother said he would go round so he became golden boy and h2b felt bad, so now we have them all coming here ? and I am cooking for 6 in our tiny kitchen!

THis is the one thing I hate about Christmas - how families all want to organise what everyone does and where everyone goes!

Nona, that sounds like a nightmare! I can't offer any advice I'm afraid, but just wanted to send you a cyber hug!

(Oh and I can't wait to say I'm getting married THIS year!!!! I'll be the same on new year's eve!)

I'm at work today, and have been cutting vts about roses. I have got lots of inspiration for a bouquet today! I'm sure they'll cost a fortune, but have a look at

    Love them!

    Hiya

OOh how exciting I can say I am getting married this year too in 2009, I'm 13th June 2009 - I will have only had 9 months to plan and organise from Matt asking me to marry him until the wedding day, its been quite hectic.

Nona - this is gonna sound harsh and I know she's your mum and you love her - but if she doesn't "do Xmas" why is she making it such an upheaval for everyone else?? Christmas is a time for relaxing and kicking back, bloody knows we have all had a hard enough year - there we go my rant over!

xx Hope everything gets sorted xx Cat

Happy Christmas everyone - I'm signing out for Chrimbo now as I have stacks to do at work (unlike other mates who are just playing on the Wii at work) - talk to you in 2009, have a great New Year xx

Thats normal!!! My OH is being a selfish twirp too - he is refusing to help me with the Christmas shop this afternoon as he is too busy playing SQUASH with his friends ? he is also not going to be around tomorrow either to entertain his step mother . So i have to be superwonam and look after a five year old, cook dinner and wrap about 20 gifts for the 5yr olds stocking!

It is so hard keeping the peace, but you know what - there comes a point when you need to put yourself first. I prescribe you a large glass of wine, and a hug ... here you go ?
