Morning Getting ready - what did you/what will you wear?

brideseekingblush, 5 May, 2010 at 17:54 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi all,

Just wondered what you were planning to wear to get ready? E.G.for your hair/make-up doing. Pyjamas? Casual clothes? All my appts are within my hotel room, so no fears there.

Wear something casual that has a zip or button up front. After you've had your hair and make-up done you don't want to be pulling clothes over your head.

If you can't step into your dress, hold a fine scarf over your face and get somone to put the dress over your head for you, so that they can clear your hairdo and the scarf will stop make-up getting on your wedding dress

I've been told not to wear a bra with straps in the morning if your dress is strapless in case it leaves strap marks. I suppose that would go the same for socks if you have a less than full-length dress.

I think i might have to wear the top bit of my dress (it's a top and skirt thingy) cos it will have to go over my head when i put it on and i would be worried about messing hair and make up :s

if i can figure out a way to avoid this, will probably be tracky bums and a tee shirt x

    Vistaprint ?

I'll take it off just before hair, its more for all our 'getting ready' pics..

Great idea, might get a tracky for the morning then, and look on vistaprint!

Another tip I picked up from my makeup lady, put a pillowcase over your finished hair and makeup so you dont get makeup on your dress whilst putting it over your head!

She said cut a mouth hole, but that would be too weird lol!!!

Wow - thanks for all the advice ladies, that's really helpful and I'd have never thought of the zip up thing. Hoody and leggings I reckon then.

PJ bottoms and a zip up top i think. I dont need to leave my mums house so no problems there.

Good tips for putting scarf/pillow case (!!) over your head when you put on your dress. Hopefully i can step into mine - i couldnt with sample in shop but it was 3 sizes too small so hopefully mine will be easier!

I've got one of those cowgirl type tops that are around quite a lot at the mo, you know the tartan sort of ones?! Description is probably awful but I just refer to it as my "Daisy Duke top" ?

It's got buttons and I have hardly anything else casual in my wardrobe that has buttons or a zip so I think I'll go with that and some trackies?

One of those that sort of tie under your boobs? Yeah, that'd work. I was wondering about a shirt on the grounds I might swelter under a hoody!

I have a plain black boob tube which i can take off the wrong way (over my hips not my head!!), will remind me to wear a strapless bra too, don't want to end up with strap marks showing when I put my dress on!
