We were brought up to be comfortable around Mum and Dad being naked, although seeing my Dad with a stiffy one Sunday morning when I was about 9 did traumatise me somewhat ?

This wouldnt of been an issue in my house though I appreciate not everyone is the same!

I think parental nudity depends on what you were brought up with. We never saw our parents naked so this how I am with my kids (well not my 3 year old, although after he pointed to my boobs and asked "why is your tummy falling down?" ? I am less inclined to let him see anything!) so I wouldn't wander round naked with a house of teenage/adult daughters. I do nip about in my undies but if I know that people are up I usually have a man's shirt over the top to hide the worst of my nakedness!

My 7 yr old frequently sees me and MrH in the 'nud' - when dos it become an issue and we need to get a bit more well-dressed? I know it is an individual thing but just wondered

I've seen my FiL starker. Twice. Not fun. ?

First time I couldn't sleep so went downstairs to watch some TV. He got up for some reason or other, came downstairs naked and I got to see everything. ? He ran back upstairs and came back down with MiL's dressing gown on. He didn't look me in the eyes for about 2 days.

Second time I was walking upstairs and he was going from the bathroom to bedroom. Thankfully I only got to see his bum that time.

I'm completely comfortable with seeing my mum naked though and vice versa. If one of us is in the bath, it's not unknown for the other to come in to chat but we are very close.

D'you know, my issue with this thread is that you were in bed and your daughter was up and about and on her laptop. Was she on the 'net?

At 14, I was never allowed to stay up later than my parents. Did I lead a sheltered life, perhaps?

LG i was in bed quite earlier than normal,(old person) aka. Dieting. So went to bed early so i wouldn't be tempted to eat crap lol

And no she cant use net unless i give her access. It is my laptop, which she often uses to store school work that she was sticking on her usb pen.

Also i did say in my original post that she was SUPPOSED to be in bed.(Which is another story completely, other than to say she is spending this weekend at home rather than out with friends.)

Can I ask (sorry, derailing thread here!) what time is bedtime for your 14 year old? I have a 14 year old daughter and she goes to bed at 9.30, I do wonder if I am being too harsh on her although she doesn't complain and on school nights I think 10 seems to late especially as she gets up early.

We ar the same with the internet access - I have her dongle for her computer, she has to ask to use it for homework and always returns it within about 30 mins. I am probalby a lot stricter than most parents about that though.

My daughter , 14, 15 in october, has to be in bed by 10.

Although when i say 10 by 9.30 she will have washed and in her pjs and maybe have some toast or something.

This is just me though!

With a teenage daughter and being single parent, its important to me, for me to have a good relationship with her,so i know everything thats going on with her,

but it is hard to find a happy medium sometimes.

I have been accused of " not wanting her to have a life" and the expected " but all my friends are allowed".

Oh and dont let me forget the " but that was when you were young years ago".?

Fair enough - sounds like you've got it sorted, in principle, which I guess is as much as can be hoped for a lot of the time with teenagers. (I don't own one, but I work with the buggers and I do know how contrary they can be) ?

Something similar happened to a friend of mine. She went up to have a bath and left her H on the safe watching footy. Realised she'd forgot her magazine and came back down stairs in just her thong to get it. Whilst she'd been upstairs her H's friend had called in to watch the footy too and he was sat at the bottom of the stairs and got a full view of friend practically naked. She's never lived it down.

I know what u say too LG, that these things are all worked in principle. But the things about teenagers is that they develop the annoyance of having their own minds!

And so interfere with all my intentional principles!! As they are ALWAYS right. And parents are ALWAYS unreasonable. Apparently!

My 14 year old goes to bed at 9.30 too, I think making sure he gets enough sleep is one of the most important things I can do for him. I also only allow an hour of computer a day (2 hours at weekends), that hour includes Xbox/DS Lite/Internet, whatever he chooses to use it for. He is allowed to use the PC for his homework, obv.

I am Stricty McStrict when it comes to bedtime and computers, he can go out with his friends pretty much whenever he likes, but getting him to actually go out and socialise at all seems to be the problem ?

FWIW, despite us being completely open about our bodies, my son would be absolutely mortified to see me or his dad naked. I'm putting it down to his age!

Has anyone mentioned that is is the holidays this week? Well it is where we live anyway.

I'd just like to say that although we were a fairly open household and could discuss most things with either of our parents I think even at the ripe old age of 32 I wouldn't like to see my mum full on naked standing in front of me, let alone when I was just 14.
