Mother in Law

NC<3, 1 February, 2014 at 15:29 Posted on Planning 0 1

I just don't get what my future Mother-in laws problem is?

Me and my partner have been together for over 21 years and have 3 children together and we've finally decided to tie the knot (7th June 2014) but my future MIL doesn't seem to be happy about it but I don't understand why?

She's not been interested in anything we have planned, so I just don't mention the wedding anymore but a few weeks ago I needed to get a list of relatives from her so I could invite them to the wedding. She did this no problem, and I got the invites printed. When they arrived last week I shown them to her and she said if you want I'll write out the envelopes as she does beautiful calligraphy writing, so I was made up! I was like ah thank you so much that will be lovely!!

So she took the box of invites (50), a few days later she said oh I've done with them now, I've kept our family and I'll drop them off when we go visiting, again I was so grateful, so I thanked her and off I trotted. When I got home I opened the box and she not wrote on any of the invites for my family or friends she just took her family out, I couldn't believe it!

My partner wanted to ring her and ask her why but I just told him to leave it, but it's really getting me down.

Sorry...I just needed to off load!

I just read this and wanted to reply to say hope things have worked themselves out a bit!! That's so harsh of her and sounds like she's just being funny about things for the sake of it - if you have been together that long she should be used to it by now! Maybe she feels like things will be different once you're married but I don't see why!

Don't let it get you down!

Sounds like something my MIL would do! I'd let your OH ring her & find out why she didn't write on ALL the invites. Do you think it was a misunderstanding or something she would do out of spite?
