Nope. I'd generally say they shouldnt be the same as the wedding party, in that they kinda stand out in their own way. I'm ivory, bridesmaids are sage green, and men in black jackets, grey trousers, and green waistcoats. My Mum is wearing purple.

The only thing thats slighty the same is that her corsage is a white rose - so still white. Main flowers are gerbera's, apart from my bouquet which is geberas, roses and freesias - again all white.

The mother of the groom should as a general rule make sure she doesnt wear the same colour as the MOTB.

We thought about this alot. My mum has been and bought her outfit today. Our colour is yellow so she has gone for a Navy outfit which i think will complement lovely.

My mum went to a really nice shop and the ladies were great in giving advice on colours to go with our theme, so maybe if she were to go and speak to them they can help on colour choice.

Maybe a silvery/grey outfit would look nice?

    xx

MOB can wear whatever colour compliements her hair & skin. In your case, def not navy. Does she suit red, pink, beige, turquoise or yellow? I'd try to get a colour that compliments the navy colour scheme & doesnt clash, but still suits her.

100% My poor old mum couldn't find anything she liked for ages, last thing I was going to do was dictate what colors she could wear.

People tend to go one of 2 ways, either making sure they match the wedding, or being very different. My mum ended up going for what she was comfortable and happy in (bright red) and the wedding was turquoise. It didnt matter to me, mum was happy. The only thing we worried about was making sure the two mums didnt end up in the same or very similar outfits as that could have been awkward.

I told my mum to get whatever she feels comfortable in. She's found something she likes and that's the most important thing to me - she'll look more lovely because she'll be happy in it!

I think she could wear anything she wants really but I think as others have said, it'd be nice if she wasn't in the exact same colour as bm's so she stands out a little.

My mum has lost a lot of weight over the past 2 years all through diets and exercise (she's lost 7 stones!!) and as a larger lady in the past she felt she wanted to hide away and blend in. I cannot wait till she gets to look for outfits now that she's happier with herself. I really want to take her to a personal shopper in a department store who can help her pick things for her new shape and make her feel really good. I'm actually quite excited about this and want her to try on every colour under the sun!
