Mothers flowers

BridetobeMrsW, 4 March, 2011 at 10:35 Posted on Planning 0 5

Is anyones mother wearing a flower on the day?

MOG has decided to tell me after we've finalised everything with the florist that she want's a flower to wear. I read lots of lists for what we would need from the florist and its the one thing that never came up so never crossed my mind. I've asked my mum since this came up and she wants one too but was going to get her own. If she's right and they do wear them what do they wear? Should it be the same as the men?

Its a very small thing but one less stress I could do without. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Corsages for the mothers have become more popular recently, I think it's another American thing that's made it over here. They tend to be a flower that features in the bridal flowers (not necessarily the same as the men's buttonholes).

Personally we're not having them - I was unexpectedly given one to wear at my OH's bro's wedding and it really didn't go with what I was wearing. Also my dress was a flimsy material and the pin made a hole in it. But if your mum and MOG want them, then that's not an issue. It's really up to you! It's not a British tradition, but I suppose it ties them in to the rest of the wedding party nicely.

    Hi

We're having corsages made for MOB and MOG. They will match in with the other flowers (Avalanche Roses and Freesias). We're also having one made for my Grandmother.

My Mum made it clear from the start she wanted a corsage- after all she thinks its her day aswell. ?

    Hope that helps!

Yeh both our moms are having buttonholes. I personally dont think its necessary for them to have any thing different so will have the same as the blikes.

We bought corsages for our mums. They are quite big, but we wanted to make them feel special, especially since we're paying for suits for the dads. Since both our families are quite large, this way it'll be easy for people to know who the mums are as obviously H2B's aunties and uncles haven't met my mum before.

We are getting one for my mum but OH's mum is no longer with us, although had she been I would have arranged one for her also. If the mums are wearing delicate fabrics for their outfits, another option they could consider is pining the corsage to their clutch.

They can wear a corsage or go different and have flowers on her handbag, wrist corsage or hat spray. If her fabric is too thin to carry a corsgae ( crepe et) then that may be a beter ebt.
