Moving house - utilities

Oh Zippy, 2 September, 2008 at 19:25 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Can anyone help please? It's been a while since I've moved and it's proving difficult to find out how to organise the gas and electricity.

As far as I can tell from the contract pack, British Gas currently supply the gas and Central Networks the electricity.

British Gas have got a 25 minute queue to speak to them and Central Networks are closed. Gah!

Do I need to tell them up front that we are moving or do I trust an EON advisor that I just let them know on the day that we've moved in and have taken over the electricity and gas supply?

And with our current supplier, do we give them notice that we are moving out.

It's ironic that we can't get through to British Gas seeing as they've almost been pests with the number of times they've phoned us in the past two months ?

Anyone? I'm still in the queue to speak to British Gas and if all they are going to say is phone them on the day I'd prefer to go and get a glass of wine! :o)

If you're happy to stay with BG and CN then I would call them on the day you move and give them your meter readings then. Also make sure you take a final reading on your old address to give to your current supplier.

Now go get your wine ?
