MRI scans: is this possible ?

Orly Bird, 2 April, 2009 at 18:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

I'm currently working in a complaints department. Today, we had a complaint from somebody who has recently had an MRI scan (a stand up scanner, rather than a tunnel type) and claimed that she had side effects of blisters under the tongue, skin peeling on her face and feeling very hot inside and out.

Is this actually possible ? Something doesn't sound quite right to me.

I'm afraid she's talking bobbins, MRI works on magnetism and radiowaves, neither of which can cause blistering or whatever.

Does she wear a tin foil helmet? ?

If the radiologist used a contrast agent then it is entirely possible. extreme reactions to the agent are not that uncommon.

You can get allergic reactions to contrast agents if they were used, though I don't know if those sound like allergic reactions.
