Msg For Tweeps, Re; Sun Island Maldives

Tongi, 3 July, 2008 at 18:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Hello,

H and I are really getting sold on Sun Island. Do you mind a few more questions please?

1 whats the difference between delux and super delux beach bungalows?

2 what is the dress code for an evening?

3 is there a particular part of the island to request a good beach room? or does that not matter here?

4 would early feb be a good time to visit?

5 Are cigarettes availble at the hotel or do you have to bring in extra (customs allowing of course)

oh im sure ive lots more...

thanks very much for your help

Tongi

Hi, not Tweeps but we went to Sun Island a few years ago. Will try to remember as best possible:

    - Super deluxe rooms are on the better bits of beach, larger in size and have a bath tub aswell as a shower

    - the dress code in the evening is pretty casual, I wore summer dresses and H wore 3/4 length trousers and a plain t-shirt or shirt. You can get dressed up if you want but it was so humid we just wanted to be comfy.

    - I'm unsure if you can request room numbers/location. We tried this on our honeymoon at Kuredu and just got allocated a roo that was availble at the time.

    - We went in Sept/Oct and Oct/Nov so can't comment on Feb

    - I can't remember exactly about cigerettes but am sure you could buy them from the gift shop.

P.S. I'd go back tomorrow if I had the chance!!

I went here on my honeymoon too and thought I might be useful.

I would always go for super deluxe beach rooms. The garden villas weren't that great and the beaches are better. You can request rooms, e-mail them before you go and ask, but do some research. For example, where we were was not the nicest bit of beach, but the coral reefs and the snorkelling were fantastic.

I would say that most of the excursions are not worth it, but would really recommend the 7 course dinner on the beach, it was amazing. You get your own chef and server and we had ours right outside the bungalow. I also enjoyed the Robinson Crusoe excursion where you are left on your own island for the day.

    Hi Tongi

If we had to go back to one of the Islands we had already visited it would be Sun Island. Both Sun Island and Kuredu have their plus and negative points so deciding between them is difficult. A Sun Island resort with Kuredu's excursions and a mixture of the food would be fantastic!!
