MUA help

mrsjw2be, 3 April, 2012 at 19:03 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi all

i had my make up trial a couple of weeks back, didnt like the eyeshadow as it was far too shiny and with me having big eyelids it looked silly, but MUA just said she would do it different on the day?!!, the foundation she used lasted about four hours and when i said to her before she left that it looked patchy she told me not to moisturise on the wedding day as this would cause the foundation to go patchy??, i dont use much make up but cant go without my moisturiser as i have eczema, can anyone give me any advice, am thinking of cancelling her and having a make up lesson myself?? dont know what to do!!

tia

    Hi Mrsj

I have eczema as well so very very careful of what products I use, I had a trial done at a wedding fayre for a friend so she could see what the make up looked like and even though she was happy enough with the result it did kind of leave my skin greasy after a few hours so I went along to another one and a make up artist used something like Bare Minerals..all powder, scary I know when you have dry skin but it worked and it looked great.

Definitely think you should "shop" around more to find someone who you are happy with, no point in paying for something you are going to worry about on your big day.

My tip for really bad dry flaky skin would be to put vaseline on your face overnight and wash it off in the morning, does my skin wonders and helps with the wrinklies too lol

To be honest, saving the important bits of the trial to the big day isnt good enough. You want to know what your eyeshadow will be like on the day and not wing it! Personally id have wanted her to get it right there and then, and for it to last. I use moisturiser every day, quite a heavy one too as my face always feel dry without and even my rimmel cheap foundation lasts longer than 4 hours!

Id get shot and get another who will pull out the strings and make you feel confident for your wedding day

I'm sorry but the whole point of a practice is to get everything perfect so the mua can turn up on the day and recreate the look decided on at the practice. If I apply a foundation and it doesn't sit well then I remove it and apply different products. If you told her at the practice that you didn't like the eyeshadow then she should've tried something else on you. I think you should have another practice with her or try another mua - where do you live? Juliet x

I live in chesterfield, the original MUA cancelled due to filming abroad and not getting back in time, i would have thought it would be good practise to start again if someone wasnt happy with it??!, i have contacted a very reputable MUA since who unfortunately cant do it as already booked but she is willing to give me a make up session, then i can go out and buy the products she thinks i will need, really dont know what to do??!!

Who is the MUA you have contacted that is unavailable? I live in Derby so can recommend some others who may be available or able to help in some way.

Elaine Betts (http://www.lipsandlashes.co.uk/) is lovely, and will hopefully be doing my make up. She comes highly recommended.

Emma O'Regan (https://www.makeupartistmidlands.com/index.html) was recommended to me buy my reception venue, she does the make up for their magazine.

Rochelle O'Brien (http://www.rochelleobrien.com/?utm_source=hitched&utm_medium=advert&utm_campaign=Basic) has been used by many hitchers, and she is a HIB on here.

Hopefully one of those can help 🙂
