music

notstressedyet, 13 July, 2011 at 21:53 Posted on Planning 0 6

I am currently putting together the music for our ceremony. It is at a hotel and I have to provide a CD. The bit I am stuck on is the background music while guests are being seated ( we are only having a small do with 32 guests) and the music while signing the register - my question is how long does the CD need to go on for? ie how many songs do I need to put on the CD?

I hardly been to any wedding myself so it's difficult to know.

I'm guessing just 1 or 2 for the signing the register but I've no idea how long for the bit while guests are being seated? Suggestions please!

Thank you

I would suggest 30 minutes of "background music before ceremony" which, obviously, you start playing half an hour before the ceremony starts.

Theoretically people should arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony to be seated 15 minutes before the ceremony starts.

Our registrars recommended up to 10-12 minutes for the ceremony music so we've got 3 songs together, on the assumption we may not need them all.

Don't forget to nominate someone to operate the player, unless the hotel are prepared to do that for you. We're providing all our own equipment and an operator so we aren't relying on anyone from the hotel who might get distracted.

You can do 10-15 minutes but I'd suggest more so it's playing as people are arriving, and it'll be a nice distraction for your h2b is sitting nervously at the front if he's not wandering round talking to the guests as they arrive.

I would also suggest that you put the background music on one CD, ceremony related music on another, and do at least three copies of each, given to different people to take to the hotel, in case one person forgets or one copy is duff Smiley smile

We've been told to have 30 minutes for before the ceremony and a further couple of songs for exiting.

Am Scottish so having Braveheart cd before ceremony which runs for about an hour so should be ok. Obviously I mean the music not rousing speeches about killing English people lol.
