Music advise for the ceremony

amee, 22 October, 2009 at 20:40 Posted on Planning 0

Hello all,

In addition to two hymns during the ceremony we are having a couple of girls sing in the church before the service, prob as I walk down the aisle with my mum.

I'm looking for advice! I have listened to lost of love songs which although lovely aren't appropriate for a church!! and also are a bit on the soppy side. I don't want the guests to be vomiting!!

I thought this would be a very easy task until I realised that all the songs I like are about death, relationship breakdowns or other stuff not appropriate to a wedding. Guess its easier to write about sad times than happy times.

All suggestions welcome!! I'm steering clear of the classic songs as some of them, although lovely, may be a tad pretencious (sp??) for a small scottish ceremony with 36 guests.

Off to make some comfort food as had a really horrible day. Shall try and log back on before I drift off into a comfort food induced nap.

Amee

If you could miss out the middle bit about not seeing each other again (or you could write some different words) then how about For Good from the musical Wicked. I love it.

Also think classical would be ok- flower duet is always popular or panis angelicus. Have sung both at various weddings and as they're not i english no one seems to mind what the words mean!
