Music for ceremony HELP NEEDED! Run out of time!!!

tressls, 5 July, 2011 at 21:29 Posted on Planning 0 27

Hi all

Have the appt to see the registrars friday which will be 6weeks 1 day before the wedding. I need to have a list of music- for the background music (whilst guests gather and are seated), my entrance, signing of the registrar and our exit. HELP! Totally lost.... ideas please? What are you having?

Also, we are having a meal (hotel wedding/reception) and the hotel need/want to know what background music we want while we eat? Wasn't aware people had music to eat to so need ideas for that too!!! ARGH!

Still stuck for first dance but will sort that on my own.

Help please x

I'd try having a quick google for vitamin string quartet, they have a lot of covers for songs done on string, so that might be useful for the background during the meal?

Concentrate on the ceremony music first as you need this Friday, you won't need the rest until nearer the time so don't panic.

Have you heard anything that you like?

We had a church wedding but had the Bridal March to enter and Wedding March for the Recessional.

Jonathan Cain has a lovely version of the Bridal March which you can download for free on his website

For the signing of the registers we had River Flows in You by Yiruma and Comptine D'un Autre Ete by Yann Tiersen

Another popular choice is Canon in D...

OH chose some instrumentl music he loves for guests arriving. i had choses Sigur Ros- Staraflur to walk down the aisle too as a suprise for him as he is a mahoosive fan and he actually chose it as on of the 'guests arriving' songs but luckily a different version and no one noticed!!

signing the reg we had you and me always- ~The wannadies, Sign,Sealed, Delivered- stevies Wonder and then a song by a local britol band Fortune Drive that we both love

we left to Frank Sinatra's 'Ive got the world on a string'

we had some jazz cds for the drinks reception and meal

Do you not think I have googled my head off? I thought with this being a wedding forum I would ask here.... since I cant get the search facility to work and search old threads of which there are no doubt hundreds...

A few of the ideas I like, yes.. but clearly I still don;t have all my choices, even having read what was listed.

This forum astounds me sometimes. Very cliquey.

People have helped you but without you giving people information about the sorts of things you want, all that others can offer is a google-on-your-behalf service.

Music is a very personal choice - Mrs C has given you loads, none of which you have thanked her for, and yet you seen to have discounted them all without explanation. How are any of us to know where to start without that guidance from you?

Od dear lord- how old are you?! Sorry.. I don't have thousands off posts and spend every waking moment on here as I have other things to do. I was under the impression the forum was here for help and advice re: weddings and as I am sure you all understand, since you are or have been in the same position, it is quite stressful.

Laugh all you want, dear... I was after some last minute help.

Mrs C- yes thank you your list proved useful, especially some Norah jones and good old Bob Marley- I have listed those for the background music for the meal etc- I just meant I am still stuck on music for the guests sitting in case one song isn't enough.... thanks for posting your list x

I have just thanked her before reading this actually- the forum hasn't been working properly for days, I can;t search and I don;t get email notifications. Sorry.

It was just an idea of what everyone else was having/had really- I know some people have more personal/less common choices, but I honestly didn't know where to start.

I googled my head off for months! sometimes you can just go on & on and still not find anything!

I'd maybe go for instrumental songs in the back ground, you can easily stop them when you need to, unfortunatly im not the best when it comes to instrumental music so cant help you there!

    We're having:

    Guests taking there seats:

Take that - Rule the world
    Michael Buble - Crazy Love
    JLS - Love you more
Bryan Adams - Everything i do

    Walking down the aisle:

Leona Lewis - A Moment like this

    Signing:

    Jason Mraz - Im Yours
Stevie Wonder - Signed Sealed Delivered

    Guests leaving:

Jackie Wilson - Higher & Higher
    Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
    Take that - Greatest Day
Areosmith - Dont wanna miss a thing

    HTH

I must admit, there are thousands of songs to choose from & we may have played it safe but i suppose on the day half of your guests wont even be paying attention to the music in the back ground

    Insult.. what insult?

I don't know what you are on about 'here we go again'... if you have had issues in the past on here that's nothing to do with me. I am not sad enough to report you for... well... for what!?!?

    Calm down.

Thank you... Google is a big place and it;s easy to get lost. I know it;s my fault I have left it so late... my appt is at 2.30! I was going to go classical but actually like the more modern l songs like you suggested, and great women singers such as Norah Jones, Sarah Bareilles, Eva Cassidy etc (even though they make me cry!!!).... thanks for your list, will scan thourgh it. I never even thought about msuci for the sodding wedding stupidly- was too busy thinking about reception music (still no first dance song!)... duh! x

You can't shout when you aren't speaking. And if I was trying to shout using text I'd probably use capital letters.

anyway back on topic- thanks for suggestions from anyone who has suggested and shared their music.

I think maybe you need to spend a little less time on here my love. I wasn't 'shouting' ... and this argument is stupid. Seriously, can you drop it now? If this is how you go on then there is no wonder you have been reported before (if you have.. which I presume so after your comment). Just leave it... I am a busy mum of 2, bride-to-be, up to my eyeballs in stress and organising as well as full time uni and nursing and all the other daily chores... I simply wanted some last minute suggestions and I got some. Dear me.
