Music for the DJ

Figaro82, 4 January, 2013 at 20:42 Posted on Planning 0 7

We are meeting the DJ next week to pick the kind of music we want and select some of our favourite songs! We have some of the classics on there but are avoiding music like YMCA as we like cheese but not stilton cheese! What favourite songs will you ladies be having??? Our first dance will be 'I love you baby' the Frank Sinatra version as we like rat pack type music and love the words to this song Smiley smile

    Hi Figaro82

I've written a blog post on this very subject that may be helpful to you!

I'm so excited about the music!

We have a full playlist and, like you, we definitely don't want any YMCA! Our first dance is "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green and we then have a list of songs we'd like played divided into pop, reggae, hip hop and some 60s for the old folks ? Hopefully something to please everyone but also stuff that we like.

Our "second" dance will be Outkast's "I Like the Way You Move".

I am excited too as we are really into our music!! We are trying to not just have it to our taste as it wouldn't be fair to the oldies having to listen to dance and house music all evening!!! We struggled on our first dance song but really happy with our choice now!

Yes! You could even ask for them with people's RSVPs. It's good for your DJ as well, as they'll have a really good idea of what everyone likes. If you also include your guests' names with their requests, your DJ will be able to give a few shoutouts throughout the night whenever he plays a request.

Requests are a great idea, no wedding I've ever done has had the same music, I've request cards which go out on tables, It's important to give people what they want on the day within reason.

    Wishing you a fab day
