music to walk up the aisle to?

natalies02, 27 May, 2010 at 16:22 Posted on Planning 0 23

I would really like to walk up the aisle to the beginning of "Bittersweet Symphony" we are having a string trio and I think it would sound beautiful, but I've been told its inappropiate and I should stick to something more traditional. I need to make up my mind soon as we get married in just over 2 weeks!

If it is a piece of music that speaks to you and means something to you then go ahead and do it, it is your day and she has no right telling you what you can or can't do!

I think that sounds lovely...it's your day and you should stick with what is special to you.

I am walking up the aisle to 'Champions Theme' by Carl Davis... (the classical piece they play during Grand National footage) certainly not traditional but sounds great and means a lot as both me and dad are huge racing fans!

It's YOUR day not your MIL's! I'm not sharing any details with the family so no risk of getting upset ?

And for what it's worth your choice of music is great!

I agree with all the others, its your day, your way!!! I love that piece of music!!!! But i can also understand the doubt you must be having. I've had similar comments about aspects of our wedding but if I let it change my mind on things it won't be our day our way!! iyswim??? Smiley smile

I'm having the candlelight version of Cascada's "Everytime we touch"

hardly a traditional wedding song but one thats special to us!

I think an instrumental version of bittersweet symphony would sound beautiful!

I would definately say go for it, I walked up the aisle to a piano instrumental version of Guns and Roses November Rain. There were only a handful of people that recognised it and so many people commented that it was a lovely piece of music and asked what it was!!

With an instrumental version I bet you she won't even recognise it, just do it she won't even know, besides as everyone has said, it's your wedding not hers, you can walk in to banana's in pajama's if it takes your fancy!! In fact, tell her your going for that and then you can suggest bittersweet, she'll love it then!

As others have said it is your wedding. I am walking down the aisle to With Arms Wide Open by Creed (a string version) and walking out to an instrumental version of I'm forever blowing bubbles. We wanted songs that meant something to us, one of these songs makes me cry, the other makes me laugh, you can guess which is which :o)!

I've played at many weddings where I've had requests for instrumental versions of rock or indie songs - Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve , Use Somebody by Kings Of Leon, Wonderwall by Oasis. These are the songs that I can almost guarantee will get the biggest response!

Most people expect to hear Pachelbel's Canon in D or Wagner's Bridal March. I can promise you'll put a smile on the faces of a lot of your guests as soon as they hear Bittersweet! Besides, the most important thing of all is that you want it played. Nothing else should matter ? xxx

Creed makes me cry so I am having to listen to it repeatedly! I love that a song I adore will forever linked with one of the best memories of my life.
