My "Aisle" is a five second walk/march

Merigold, 5 November, 2013 at 10:52 Posted on Planning 0 18

So ave been thinking about music to walk down the aisle to. But the aisle will take a max of 5 seconds to walk down! I don't know of any aisles that could take a whole song to walk ( Westminster Abbey maybe?) down to.How is this handled? My song, whatever it is, will have meaning to me..I had hoped to hear the whole thing...what did you guys do?

Waited for a bit. Then waited a bit more.

(Meanwhile, Boy was cracking jokes about getting lighters out).

    Sent the BMs down, slowly.

    Waited a bit.

    Then started walking.

That's the way it goes, in my experience.

You could also edit the song to make sure you get to the "good bit" faster. Some songs have have long, boring intros that cause long pauses.

Haha I'm totally in the same boat! Getting married at my venue so the aisle's not as long as a church one. I'm going to feel stupid I think!

    My aisle is short too.

But we have 3 flowergirls, 2 page boys and 2 BMs, 1 MOH so hopefully make full use of the song.

I too am a short aisle bride!

We has rehearsal on Sunday and each of my 4 BMs walked down one by one with a bit of a gap then me and dad waited a bit and then we wlaked down - everyone walked down the aisle VERY slowly and the first BM waited a couple of bars before she started.

    xx

We are having Everlong by Foo Fighters played by a string trio, I think the plan is for them to start playing, and then the bridesmaids go down the aisle slowly one by one and then wait (haha) a few seconds and then I will walk down with my Dad slowly. The venue said when we have our handover meeting a few days beofre we will 'practise' not sure how much practisign it needs though!

I have been thinking the same thing, and thought maybe an instrumental is a better way forward? My aisle is very short, will take all of 5 seconds to walk down it!

Our aisle is really short too.

I'm walking in to an instrumental so not too bad for me but I'll be sending everyone in before me - slowly!

I have 2 pageboys, 2 flower girls and 3 BMs so hpefully won't be too quick!

    Yup, me too Smiley laugh

I'm playing instrumental music, Clair De Lune, so it doesn't really matter.

Haha you have asked the perfect question, I was thinking exactly the same thing. I think we're going with the instrumental intro to a song we both love, but I'm hoping that no one will notice when it gets cut short!

I'll send the BM's and page boy down, then the bit I want to walk down the isle to starts about 30secs in to the music.

I'll then walk & let the music play a teenie bit more & fade away. That'll give me a chance to compose myself before I have to speak.

My friend practically ran up the isle. We still giggle about it now.

I'd love a shorter aisle, ours is far too long. Really big church and hardly any guests, I feel i'll be a bit silly. And god knows what i'll be walking down to haha!

But yeah i'd suggest playing the song for a little bit before BM's and anyone enters and just wait as long as you can and walk slow as you can, try and make the most of the song! Smiley smile

You can also listen to the song for a bit longer as you stand together - let the officiant know you want this to happen before hand

if getting married in a church or large room, a domestic cd player is not up to the job and will sound awful. if the venue does not have a background music system get your dj to provide your ceremony music (if not having musicians/organ/choir) with a suitable speaker system.

if using a domestic cd player or similar get the person in charge to fade the music out by turning the volume down rather than abruptly stopping song by using nthe stop button
