My Beautiful Mum Journals...

Tracey86, 11 September, 2011 at 07:07 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi everyone

I love these journals but decided that as I love to get crafty I would make my own in a scrapbook style with lots of pretty papers and embelishments- I've never done scrapbooking before but theres a first time for everything and so far (ie-I've done the first page-lol!) I'm loving it.

Anyway, I'm looking for some ideas on what to include, what questions I could put in etc.

So far I have a couple of lovely poems and quotes about mother and daughter, along with photo's of Mum and I together from when I was born upto present day.

I also have the following questions and answers:

- A little note of thank you...

- The memory of us I most cherish...

- If I could give you one wish it would be...

- If tomorrow never came I would want you to always remember...

- Five things I hope you see in me...

- Five words that best describe you...

- Something you said that I've never forgotten...

- What makes you so unique as my Mum

and

- Today...

Can anybody think of anything else I can add or anymore questions and answers.

Thank you muchly ladies and gents.

You could add Lessons I've learnt from you and My first memory of you.

Maybe you could add a little pocket or sleeve at the back where you can add copies of your invite, OOS, bits of confetti etc as keep sakes for her.

Oooh go on then...I love a good flash!

    First Page:

I've done another 2 pages today- one I don't really want to flash because its a bit personal with the words but this one I'm happy to flash:

Please excuse quality of the photo's- they're taken on my phone.

I think the journals are a really lovely idea and I'm sure my Mum will love it!

That's lovely. Something which would be totally wasted on my Mum though, so can't help with suggestions.

Thanks everyone, I'm quite pleased with it so far.

I just want to add though that I have totally stolen this idea from the "My beautiful" journals on the Oh So Cherished website, so I can't take the credit for the idea at all. I just chose to make my own rather than buy one and add to it because I enjoy getting crafty and also- we're on a budget so its cheaper to do it this way too.

    Thanks again all. xxx

    Hi All,

This is an idea that I'd really like to do for our parents - The ones from Oh so Beautiful look great, but I'm worried if I buy them I might not like all the questions or pages etc.

Tracey do you mind if I ask how much it's costing you to do them DIY? I tried to average the costs of buying a book to buying the supplies but not really sure how much stuff I would need!

    Thanks

    Kerry ?

For me it is working out quite cheap but then as I said I am quite crafty so I already had some of the bits and bobs I'm using on the book from previous craft projects and I fell REALLY lucky with the actual book. My friend saw it in a charity shop, brand new and still in its cellophane sleeve for £2.50, its originally a photo album from WH Smiths with plain paper pages seperated with the tissue- its a lovely book and such a bargain. Before my friend saw this though, I was planning on getting a plain guestbook style book that I'd seen on ebay for about £8. Dunn Elm do some lovely crafty bits and embelishments for quite a reasonable price and scrapbooking decorative papers and things are really cheap in the works and on ebay.

I woulds say in total mine will cost about £10 not including the printer ink.

Hope that is some sort of help.
