My cat has been a silly girl :(

H was cooking pasta the other night, he took the pot off the hob to drain it and Gucci (the cat) jumped on the cooker on to the hot plate and burned her two front paws. ☹️ We've no idea what possesed her to jump up there, shes never done it before. When we are cooking we always fill the pot with cold water and leave it on the hob incase any of the cats jump up but H never got the chance, he literally turned his back to drain the pasta and she jumped.

We took her straight to the emergancy vet who said she was very lucky, her paws are v red and sore looking but the vet said shes seen cases where the pads can actually fall off. ? but Gucci will be fine, shes got cream, painkillers and drops.

We have to put her cream on twice a day and the vet said try not let her lick her paws for half an hour but the only way we can stop her doing this is to hold her, which pisses her off. Any ideas on how we can stop her licking the cream off?

Initial thought was one of those cone-round-the-neck things they use to stop cats getting to stitches?

Alternately, baby socks over the top of the cream? (Which might be a bad idea - was a random though!)

The only way we've ever been able to stop a cat licking a wound is to get a cone. They hate them but its not for long. Your poor cat, at least she won't be doing that again in a hurry. x
