My DREAM DRESS is now instore :S

HLT, 23 March, 2012 at 22:39 Posted on Planning 0 21

But I can't have it because Ive already ordered mine!

I saw this dress at the start of the year and wanted it sooooooo badly but the shop were waiting for it to come in. I waited and waited but eventually decided I couldn't afford to wait any longer (wedding is in August) so I ordered my dress http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://wedding-pictures.onewed.com/edgy/wedding-dresses/designer/allure-bridals/dress/v-neck/floor-length/8825/details/8825-2011-wedding-dress-allure-trumpet-v-neck-black-belt.JPG&imgrefurl=http://wedding.ustcan.com/wedding-dresses/designer/allure-bridals/dress/v-neck/floor-length/8825/&h=361&w=270&sz=62&tbnid=A881Vvh7Yy-szM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=112&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dallure%2Bbridal%2B8825%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=allure+bridal+8825&docid=ei_yTO1qLZNJmM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=N_psT4bPLvOU0QXzt5TrBg&ved=0CDQQ9QEwBg

Anyway, its now I store and I can't stop looking at it. I wouldn't swap because the other dress is half paid for (plus I've already lost some deposit in a previous dress!) but I just can't stop day dreaming about this dress! The woman in the bridal shop tried to convince me that the style probably wouldn't so anything for my shape and persuaded me to try a dress which was a similar dress but it actually looked quite nice to me - even she was surprised! http://www.alfredangeloanz.com/collections/productdisplay.aspx?productID=af284e07-dbf8-4f0e-84bf-6b1904095e4b&categoryID=aac17d27-96a5-4742-8c70-b419fe47a7b2&pg=0&colorId1=

Oh well, I guess I must stop torturing myself and concentrate my efforts on trying to chose some accessories to match MY dress...!

Maybe if you tried it on you wouldn't like it?

I'm going to tell you something that put me off layers of tulle (like on ur dream dress) Apparently tulle is quite delicate and prone to tearing, it also tends to get things stuck between the layers & because there are so many layers its tough to get the stuff out (think blades of grass, small flies etc) I am not trying to upset anyone who has a multi layered tulle dress, just saying I think you made the right choice! Mine is actually quite similar, I'm just having off the shoulder straps xx

I'm probably going to through a spanner in the works by saying this but I actually prefer the dress you have bought!!! It is stunning. I'm not so keen on all the tulle on your dream dress, but its a personal preference!

You are going to look beautiful in your dress.

    Good luck x

HLT I loved that second dress too, and was so excited about trying it on...it looked awful!! It poofed out at the exact wrong place and just wasn't flattering at all.

I love the dress you have bought!! I think even if you're a skinny mini the second dress just wouldn't look as flattering. Hope that helps!

Thanks all. I couldn't help myself so called the shop to find out what the price tag is and I am even more gutted - it's HALF the price of mine.. Just hoping that would mean half the quality too hehe. I'm not even going to look at it when I go in for my fitting!

Vintage84 - thanks, that is definitely worth knowing.

kadence - Phew! I'm definitely not a "skinny minny" so that's very reassuring to hear! In real life, does the tule look a bit cheap?!

To be honest I saw it in a shop that specialises in cheaper dresses - to me it did look quite cheap, there was nothing really 'to it' if you catch my drift!? I loved the pic and couldn't wait to try it on, but when I saw it, even on the hanger I new it wouldn't be right!

The tulle 'dream dress' you like it fairly similar to the dress I've picked, but I still MUCH prefer the dress you've actually chosen. I don't like the top of the tulle dress at all - to me it just doesn't match the bottom! I think if you tried the tulle one on you'd realise yours is nicer. It might not be a bad idea to get it out of your head.

I much prefer the dress you've bought. Its beautiful. The other one is too princess-ey for me! Theres always that 'what if?' feeling and doubt after wedding things have been bought. There won't be another time to wear another wedding dress or another pair of wedding shoes, or even get married in a different venue. Do you know what I mean? Its so final you're bound to have doubt! But don't as your dress is stunning!!!!!

I prefer the one you bought as well - it's stunning! And I agree that the style of the Alfred Angelo dress would be much harder to pull off. The dress you have looks like it would give a really flattering shape.

Thanks ladies! I am temped to try it on, just to get it out of my head but I don't trust myself... I already put a deposit on a dress, had doubts and tried on a few more hoping to convince myself I'd made the right decision, only to find MY dress. I just don't think I could take the risk incase I loved it more (I've already paid for half of my dress and can't afford to pull out!). I'm just lapping up the comments about it looking cheap, the tule being a bit scraggly and the likelihood of it looking like a dogs breakfast on me Smiley winking

The other dress is pretty but it definately looks like you would have to have the right shape to pull it off.

I'm going back on Saturday to get my dress and typically my dream dress is now on the model in the window. I HATE THEM lol. I will have to wear my blinkers!

NO way! Your first dress - the one you've bought - is MUCH prettier, MUCH classier and looks about ten times more expensive!

Stop looking. honestly. You're doing yourself no favours. Your dress is gorgeous, you chose it for a reason.

Your dress is so much nicer - definitely looks classier too! I found that with some dresses you could really tell they were cheaper by the way they fitted and how they felt on - sure that would be the same and your dress will do a lot more for you on the day too (confort and confidence)! Stick with it - it's gorgeous!

HLT your dress is gorgeous, I much prefer it to the "dream" dress. Like lots of others have said, I´m not too keen on the skirt on the dream dress - it doesn´t really go with the lace I don´t think.

Whatever you do, do NOT go and try the dream dress on. You chose yours for a reason. I´m sure you made the right choice!
