My dress has a colour, unsure what to do with bridesmaid? *flash*

VintageGal, 27 May, 2015 at 12:35 Posted on Planning 0 16

http://www.forgetmenotdesigns.co.uk/adele/ (i don't know how to insert a pic)
So this is my dress, it has a gorgeous sea green duchess satin layer with an ivory lace overlay & a sea green sash.
I absolutely love my dress but i'm not sure what colour i should have my bridesmaid in, before i bought my dress i have considered Red, Navy & light pink. Since i booked my venue i don't think red will work with the surroundings & i think navy will be too cool against the sea foam, i feel like i need to use a complimentary colour, like coral or peach but i'm not sure. Im also not sure about pink, as while i like it, i don't really consider myself a girly pink kind of person (that said, i had pink hair for a while)
My wedding will have a vintage tone to it & i like the idea of having a mixture of muted pastel tones, no set matching scheme as such. If i was having 2 female bridesmaids i would put them in mismatching dresses, but as one is male i will buy a coordinating tie which goes with the bridesmaid.
Can anyone suggest any other options? With only 116 days to go, i really need to decide on the colours so i can move onto planning the decorations!!!

    Oh that's lovely!

I think the muted pasted tones would look lovely... an antique pink colour would go well and isn't a "girly" baby pink, or perhaps a dark teal colour... but that may be too close to the colour of your dress actually.

Love the dress though Smiley smile

I'd say a full length sea green, and same colour tie to match in with your dress. I've bought my bm a dress that has a very similar bust to my dress so we match a little Smiley smile

Wow, that dress is gorgeous! I think a coffee colour could work, I think peach or blush would look lovely, or what about a sort of grey/blue? A deep pink would probably look good too Smiley smile

    That dress is gorgeous!

I think any bridesmaid's dress from this colour palette would work well:

I'd be tempted to bring out the green more and go for something in the sage itself.

Or something a little darker to really complement your green:

Funny, my eyes must see it as more blue than other people, I'm not sure about the green with it at all.

It could be displayed differently depending on the individual display. Its very much like the first colour in the palate of colours that were put up, a kind of 'greyed jade' colour

Oh my goodness - this is the nicest dress!

Do they only stock in their Isle of Wight store?

I think blues, yellows and teal would work really well.

No, I'm buying mine through a local store, they have stockists: http://www.forgetmenotdesigns.co.uk/stockists/

Lovely dress, I too don't see green though?

I would think either a baby blue to continue the theme or a pale yellow would compliment. I would have shorter bridesmaids dresses too, rather than full length.

Oh my, what a stunning dress! Love it!!

As others have said, I think muted pastels will be great.

I love your dress! I agree a pastel or blush would look nice. What style of dress are you thinking? Lindy bop have 50's style dresses for good prices or if your able to have a bigger bridesmaid budget lulu bridal do some lovely vintage style dresses.

Thank you, its beautiful isn't it!

@mrsreesb2 what kind of price range are the lulu dresses?

I'd like a fifties style dress, tea length, circle skirt. But i am open minded.

I love vivien of holloway & buy most my clothes from there but my bridesmaid doesn't really suit them unfortunately.

I was thinking of this one:

I like the colour of first one better though

The best woman was going to get the one in hot pink a little down the page and that was £250 www.louloubridal.co.uk/collections/frocks/ it looked amazing on but we've had a complete change of theme so won't be getting it now.

Ooh, I was going to say a dusky pink with the greyed jade would look lovely. That first dress is gorgeous Smiley smile

Oh wow, the dress is just gorgeous! I love it :-) I would agree with MrsBJ and go for the darker green to compliment it and make you really stand out. Good luck!
