My dress has turned up...

Dizzybelle, 24 October, 2012 at 09:47 Posted on Planning 0 19

...and it fits!!! ?

Some of you might have seen last week that I had my eye on a dress from Monsoon and it went out of stock!

I found a brand new one online in my size so I went ahead and bought it. It turned up yesterday and it fits like a glove. I'm so excited as it was my dream dress.

I know its probably not to everyone's taste but H2B and I have both been married before and we're havinga small wedding so I think it will be perfect.

I haven't got any pics of me in it as I had to try it on very sneakily last night as H2B was at home.

It has silver bugle beads decorating it and the sleeves cover my dodgy tattoo (why didn't I listen to my mother when I was young?!)

So now I just need help with shoes and a headpiece. Any suggestions? I was wondering whether to go for silver shoes, something with a mid heel as I'm 5'7" and H2B is 5'10" so don't want to tower over him.

I'm going to wear my hair down so was thinking maybe a side tiara.

Any help with what you think would look good would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Looks lovely. I think silver shoes would be perfect to match the silver beading on the dress. A simple side tiara or hair comb would look lovely. I'm struggling on head piece too!

Very pretty. Another idea for a headpiece would be a 1920s style headband, maybe with a side brooch/feathers. Sort of flapper style but updated. I think that would work with the dress very well.

Ooh that sounds good, have you got a picture of the kind of thing you mean?

I had my eye on something like this

I wasn't sure about the pearls though and wondered whether something all crystals would be better.

    Thanks

Tried my dress on ths morning to show my daughter and still absolutely loved it. Got her to take some pics so that I could show you guys and wow, it looks completely different than it did in the mirror!!!

I'm no slim jim but it made me look bigger than I am, I'm having serious second thoughts now. (I know its not the best photography as she's only 5 bless her).

Some honest opinions would be much appreciated.

If I'm gonna order something from a bridal shop I'm gonna have to do it before the end of November so mildly panicking.

    Thanks

I think it really suits you and completely agree with aarchk that a non boned corset or even a sucky-in bodice thing will work really well.

You don't look big in the slightest though! You have a lovely shape.

I'm hoping that it was the fact that B was standing lower than me which made such an unflattering photo. She seemed to capture my double chin really well lol.

It looks wonderful and really flatters your curves. You are a perfect hourglass. Something with boning will be more effective than spanx, I don't think you need it though. The 1920's idea of feathers/vintage sparkle will be amazing. Try silver t-bars to complete the 20's look.

Wow, thanks girls. You've made me feel so much better.

Thanks for the suggestions re. accessories also. As the dress was so cheap I think I might treat myself to a pair of Rachel Simpson shoes.

    Was thinking about these ones:

Still a bit stuck as to hair accessories though.

I absolutely love your dress and you look lovely in it!

I think it's a really flattering cut and design but if you feel uncomfortable there are so many underwear options out there. You could even take your dress to a undies shop and they could help you find the right thing to wear underneath... My sister did this for her wedding.

Gorgeous dress!! I like shoes 1 & 2 but i think i prefer pair 2 a bit more. Shoe 3 is too shiny silver.

I am in love with this but it is outrageously expensive I think the least I could do it for would be 175 pound

I have some less expensive side tiaras on the website
