My dress is HERE!!!

Frogface, 19 March, 2013 at 09:59 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hi guys,

I got a call yesterday afternoon to say my dress has arrived...2 months earlier than I thought! I am so excited I couldn't sleep last night! OH thinks I am a looser!

Anyway I am going to try it on again next Friday.

My question is, do you wear the underwear you plan to wear on the day to the fitting? I always thought I would go and try it on and see what underwear I would need depending on the fit ect.

Regards

A very excited 'looser' bride. x

Well jel. Mine isn't in until July! ?

Not sure about the undies sitch. I'm going bra less (and with my 38G beasties, that's no mean feat!)- they're going to build a boob 'hammock' into the dress, apparently!

I'm excited for you both! Lucky girls. WE WILL EXPECT FLASHING.

Oooh Skeptical78 if I could possibly borrow your 38G beasts for the big day it would be much appreciated! Absolutely NO need for a boobie hammock in my dress Smiley sad

I ordered my dress the end of November and got told it would take 6 months to come in, so you ladies who still have a few months to wait - it might come early!

I am not sure about alterations. The shop where I ordered mine from has recently stopped doing them. They now just recomend someone to you. x

I was told that i must bring my shoes and underwear to the first fitting - she was very clear on this and its even written on my invoice. She mentioned that my bra needs fixing to my dress .... was too overwhelmed to ask her to elaborate more on this.

She said the veil and accessories were not important as the first fitting was purely dress fitting. Although I’m sure all shops are different.

Jealous of you all, mine isn’t due until August. But i did have a dream about petticoats last night as i am struggling to find a hoopless one.

When i bought my dress the shop explained that the first fitting will be October, second in December/January then i can store the dress in the shop and pick it up the day before my wedding!!! (February).

All i could think was “are you insane?” i want it at LEAST a week before if not longer so i can just sit in a room alone and look at it. ?

I mean its good idea if you have limited space but it’s a no from me i want my dress.

I was told I needed my shoes for my first fitting but then again I have bought off the peg and it fitted me really well considering anyway. But your dress will definitely hang differently depending on what footwear and undies you have on, soits better to be prepared. I've already bought 2 different styles of magic knickers and have seen a third I like in tesco of all places... Not sure my fitter would be too keen for me to try all 3 plus normal knickers on the day tho!!! So I'm taking normal knickers and body contact ones with a deeper leg plus my shoes- also going with my hair and makeup something like so I can get a better idea of the overall effect as I don't know what jewellery to buy yet. Xx

Did anyone go back to the shop and try on the dress again AFTER ordering it?

I ordered mine but my bridesmaids were not there - as it wasnt a planned day out / purchase. But i would love to go back with them, try on and show them. Just feel a bit silly doing it since i have already ordered it.

The nearest other shop that stocks the designer is about 30min drive away. Help!!

My dress came in a couple of weeks ago and I took along a strapless bra to try with it (I left the tags on just in case it was no good and had to be returned) and it went perfectly. The lady in the bridal shop tried to convince the built in bra would be enough but after trying it with with and without, it felt so much better with it on. I'm a 36D but I suppose it comes down to the type of dress and how much support it already has. I didn't have shoes with me as I've only just bought those so will take them along next time.

Feb2014Bride - I think it's perfectly reasonable to go along and try the dress on again even though you've already ordered. My bridal shop told me to feel free to come along any time if I wanted to try the sample again before mine came.

You need to take both your underwear & shoes that you will wear on the day with you to your dress fitting as the underwear changes your shape so the dress will be altered accordingly, same goes for altering the length to go with your shoes.

Tried my dress on today and LOVE it.....didn't need shoes/underwear as was just trying it and will start having fittings nearer the time.

Going in for next appointment 6 weeks (omg) before the wedding, when will obviously need everything like shoes, but didnt today!

I was really worried about trying my dress -it doesnt look the same on the website and when I last 'tried' it on, it was a sample size 6 and I could hardly get it on, so I was a bit worried.....but I love it and I am so pleased with my choice!

I dont have any pics I'm afraid, I wish I did and I really didnt want to take it off!
