my dress isn't going to sell again!! What am I doing wrong?

*Clairejk, 2 April, 2011 at 18:30 Posted on Planning 0 6

It's hard enough to let it go without going through (and paying!) it twice, but we're moving and need the cash.

Any last minute tips? Thanks x

I think a photo of the dress front on and the length of the train would be helpful. One of the reasons I won't sell my dress is because the amount of people people think they can buy a second hand dress for is an insult so no wonder it's hard enough to let it go. At £50 people would get a bargain. Is it on Preloved and the Hitched For sale forum?

Just found the link to you wearing it which is giving people the front and train picture. Maybe put that link at the top of the listing perhaps?

Can you say whether the dress was altered at all on the listing? Even just a 'no alternations done' sentence.

Do you know the name of it? When I am searching dresses on ebay I like to look it up elsewhere to see the pics of it on the model etc xx

It is a lovely dress,if it was me buying second hand the work involved in getting the dress re hemmed and cleaned would put me off. Especially if there is no guarantee of the marks coming out.

Do you think it would be worth your while to get it cleaned and hemmed yourself then sell it for a better price?

I would stick a photo of you wearing it on as well.

    Hi,

The dress is lovely. I would agree with the others re: more pics, including one of you wearing it. I think it can be hard to sell on e-bay as there are so many iyswim and sometimes people don't manage to look through all of them. Is there anywere near you that sell 2nd hand dresses for people and give you the money? I am sure there is one a few towns away from me who does this. Also try advertising on other sites like the hitched sale forum/preloved/gumtree and maybe even locally in the paper?

    Good luck x

    Hi There,

I agree with the other posts. The dress just looks lifeless hanging on the wardrobe. You almost certainly need to have pictures of you wearing the dress and also if you know the model number pop that in the description and title. If you can find some stick photos add them too.

I see you have the links on there but some people will not click on them for fear of knowing what they are. I would get a cost for a complete dryclean and add that to the listing so people know what this would be if they were to buy.

Adding postage to your item will attract more buyers rather then just local buyers. You will be able to send the dress for under £10 by www.parcel2go.com by DHL or the Home delivery network. I use them all the time and they run a very good service.

Other sources that could be good are - Gum Tree - Pre Loved - Hitched forums or Y&YW forums.
