Bekki - it was my own player too. For ages I've been trying to coach her out of her soft passes, and she decides to play the best firm pass she's ever played, right into my face from about 2 foot away.

I had a netball black eye two weeks ago (OK, it was only a little bruise, rather than a massive shiner). Poor you.

The umpires in our league are appaling and didnt even call the GD up when she knocked the ball out of my hands, they wouldn't know that rule, let alone enforce it.

The umpires in our leagues have a good grasp of what level to umpire each team at, but it's not necessarily the same level for each of the teams on the court, if you see what I mean (the idea is to improve each team's play appropriately).

Last night, in one of our leagues, we played one of the bottom teams. They got away with murder. Footwork at the centre pass? Try again. But we'll penalise that other C (me) for not running as quickly as they thought I could to the centre circle for the next centre pass. At one point, the opposite WD jumped into me and knocked the ball out of my hand and me off the court. They told her she can't do that, then gave her the throw in, because I was out of court......grrrrrrr.

Oh well, we still hammered them (+120 goal difference after three games ?)

It was worse on Saturday in the sense that I had a fuzzy head and I've still got a bit of a headache now. Tonight's netball match has been canned thank god.
