My Fantastic Surpirse Hen Night

esser1, 7 July, 2010 at 11:22 Posted on Planning 0 8

My Chief Bridemaid (my sister) has been planning my Hen Night for awhile and wanted it to be top secret. I wasn't too bothered about having one but she insisted. I am normally a complete control freak about these things and once she said she was organising it and that i had nothing to do with it, I got even more concerned! I suggested she speak to my best friend Darren to really get to know what i want. Being in my 30's and my sister in her 20's, I really wasn't feeling strippers and weekends away, I wanted something that a mix of ages could attend and not expensive and left it at that. I chose my list of friends from home, work and family and as the date got nearer I was constantly being told that they were really looking forward to it and that my sister really was so organised and thoughtful. I then began to relax and started to look forward to it too. The Hen night was Saturday and I was told to wear leggings and to meet at my Mum and Dads where my Dad was going to drop me off at the location. I was so nervous but my Dad was clearly excited for me. I spent ages getting ready lol and he said i looked lovely which was really sweet, hope he does the same on the wedding day. lol As we drove it was clear we were going to London. I was dropped off near Covent Garden and told to walk down the road where my sister would meet me. As I walked down the road a vision of colour met me as my sister and a selection of my bestest buddies and family came towards me in a sea of 80's colour. It is a memory that i will never forget, it was wonderful. I was then taken to Pineapple Studios and dressed up in 80's gear (wish i hadn't taken ages gettting ready lol) Where I realised 80's is the theme - FANTASTIC! I was then taken to the celebrity studio where we were met by a choregorapher who was directing us in a routine to FAME - my favourite programme growing up. It was so much fun and such a laugh. He was also filming it and it is being made into a DVD which I think I will play at the wedding reception. It was hilarious. I just couldn't believe how everyone threw themselves into it. We ahd everyone from my sister 25 to my aunty 70. It was fantastic.
This pic was taken at the beginning - we were knackered by the end. I am in the middle. After this we went out for a meal. Before we got to the restaurant i was ceremonially dressed up. A mix of 80's and Bride to be. lol. The restaurant was lovely we had a long table decoreated with L plates and balloons. At the end of the meal my sister stood up and did a speech saying that bridemaids don't get to do speeches at the wedding so she had a few words she wanted to say. She thanked everyone for coming and said how much she loved me and my partner. I was in tears and a really really lovely touch. After the meal we were whisked away in cabs to Reflex an 80's club where we had a reserved area and were greeted with drinks and loads of fab 80's goodies. It was fab seeing my mum bopping along to George Michael and my freinds feeding her tequila's. Loved it. Then just after midnight a selection of family members and partners came and picked us up and took us home. It was the most amazing night ever. Organised to perfection and just gave me the opprotunity to enjoy time with my friends and fmaily. There was 19 of us altogether something else that really flattered me. It has now given me more excitement for the wedding as everyone got on and has left us with great memories. I am also realyl grateful to my best friend and sister for organising something so fabulous and so so me.
Me by the end of the night. Dressed up like a kipper! Role on the wedding....
