My first Bridezillla moment...

*gnashers*, 10 November, 2012 at 19:17 Posted on Planning 0 25

.....just found out my colleague has booked the same venue as us.

I'll get over it in a couple of days, but I'm just a bit 'meh' about it at this moment in time.

    My colleague's a he.

Dunno...he hasn't told me the date yet. Although I know he wanted 6 days after us, as that would be the year anniversary of him proposing.

I know it's no biggy really. It's a nice venue and not as if I'm the first to get married there!

I know what you mean, I told a girl at work my venue then was wished I hadn't when she went to view it (she has booked somewhere else since tho..my venue not good enough?!)

I would prefer go first so to speak!

Would you be / are you on each others invite list?

I'll be inviting him (and his fiancee) to ours - if they have booked their preferred date, I'll be on my honeymoon for their wedding anyway.

I'll invite all my colleagues to the evening (only 16 of us) - not sure if they will be invited to his. Feel sorry for them if they are as none of them live near it!

No, only met a few times,

I know I have absolutely no reason to be annoyed, it's just a massive coincidence, and everyone in the office knows I booked ours ages ago (I have a pic of the venue on my notice board) so I know he'll be the one that people are like, 'really?!'

Meh, our wedding will be awesome anyway...we might have mushrooms in our table centres (I went to an AMAZING florist today!)

Oh what is wrong with people. I had same thing with girl in work. Told her where I had wanted to get married. she went for a viewing then told me how much it wasn't for her and listed all these things wrong with it and why would I want to get married there. Few weeks later she had booked it!! More fool her was by this time I had been engaged and already provisionally booked my wedding date which turned out to be before her!!! her face was a picture. Some people just don't have their own imagination. We should take it as a compliment really. thing is my venue means the world to us it's where we got engaged and where we had always planned to get married and everyone knows that so she's the one that looks the idiot.

It's so u[setting at the time though, I know how you feel. I cried for a full day but do you know what. YIt will be such a different day for you and the other couple and you will have the time of your life. Just enjoy it and forget about them. xx

He he. I just discovered my cousin has viewed a restaurant on the beach a few miles from my house which I thought would be picturesque, different and a hidden gem...I was like, huh, she lives about 30 miles away this is my territory LOL! She's getting married a year before me too!

Well I' afraid to say I'm THAT girl!!?

My male colleague had been engaged for a while and didn't really talk too much about his plans, he also works on a different site so don't see him too much.

We got engaged in may in Paris and as soon as we got back I started my hunt for a venue. We went to a few places and then one day I came across a venue called The belle époque. I couldn't believe it as this was the name of the set menus we choose on the night of our engagement in the moulin rouge. I was so excited!! I was talking to a female colleague about it and she told me that's where our colleague was getting married! I was gutted and didn't know what to do. My friend ended up telling him and he sent me a text to say it was a beautiful venue and to get a viewing booked! They get married in may and us in october. I was more worried about how his partner would feel. We had met a few times in the past. We have all met since and it was actually quite nice to discuss suppliers and set ups etc.

I would hate it if they felt any negative feelings towards me.

    oh I don't at all.

Its pure coincidence, it's a lovely venue (I would say that!) and if my OH told me I couldn't get married at a lovely venue because his colleague was getting married there, I'd have told him to pi$$ off.

My boss is more annoyed about it than me, ha!

As long as its not the day before, as then I won't be able to go!

I will say with mine, I really really really wanted a venue no one else had booked before (that we knew of course) and I love Otley Hall. They only do a small amount of weddings per year as its their own home, which sounded perfect - but now, I kinda wish I knew someone who had got married there or is getting married there so we can talk about it and see how each other are doing things there ? I dont think even anyone on here is getting married there to chat too either ?

Hahaha, found out today that he's booked his wedding for 6 days after me.

Bit sad I won't be able to go actually.

Oh wait, I'll be on honeymoon, I'm over it ?

I think it's innervertable that people will have the same venues, there are only so many in each area. I had the same venue as two people I work with in the same year. A lot of them with the same guests as well. I do work in a massive office though (3000 people)

I get why your a bit miffed but it's a bit bridezila to not expect anyone else to have the same one.

I don't 'expect' anyone not to have the same venue, unless I was having a marquee in a family member's garden. That would be weird.

It's just there are a hell of a lot of venues in our area and we work in an office of 16 people, so for two of us to be getting married at the same one isn't something that you'd think would happen.

I'm not denying it was a bit bridezilla of me to moan about it - which is why I did on here that to IRL people ?

    This was my first thought.

At least you know they can't slag you off for your choice of venue Smiley smile

If it was before mine it would annoy me but it's after, and, as you say, you'll be on honeymoon so who cares?! ?

Glad you're happier now - I'd be pretty miffed, but sounds like it wasn't deliberate. You moan away, that's what we're here for!!
