My First Post!

HI All

I have been a regular viewer of this forum for a while now - but seeing as i was officially proposed to on Christmas Day I feel i can now properly join in without feeling like i'm planning an imaginery wedding! Now it's all real! Yey!

Hoping to get married next Christmas time, so i'm sure over the next 12 months i'll be asking for plenty of advice from you lovely ladies (and the famous AJ!)

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas too - and i'm sure i'm the first of many newly engaged to join you over the next few days!

x

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

3 bottles of champagne is good going teehee! I had a few glasses of bucks fizz in the morning but then ate my weight in chocolate orange if that counts! Wedding dress diet starts in new year!!

I want the bank holidays to hurry up and pass so i can start arranging some visits to venues! We live in south London so if anyone has any recommendations here or in Surrey for a good (but not too pricey) venue for the civil ceremony and reception that would be great!

    Hi winterbride!

Congrats on your engagement! I too am having a winter wedding (Dec 17th) so I look forward to seeing how your planning goes. We have friends who are getting married in the surrey/london area in June so I will have a word with them to see what venues they have seen. I suppose it all depends upon what you are looking for.

I hope you have great fun planning!

    Hi, winterbride!!!

You may be near enough my date twin! I get married on 23rd Dec next year! I have been on here since we got engaged in March this year!

Good luck with the planning - I for one am so giddy now as no longer counting "1 year x months " til the wedding, now my ticker says 11 months 27 days!

And eternallyme, you're near enough to me too - how are you doing with preps?

Good luck both of you!! xxxx

Congratulations, what a great christmas present Smiley smile

i am a surrey bride too, if you look on this website it lists all the wedding fairs in surrey which are quite goof to go to just to see suppliers as well as venues in the area!

Congrats! What a fab present to have. I live in South London too but I'm getting married in Warwickshire (where I am from orginally) so didn't ever get around to looking at venues in the area. Although there was one place I would have looked at, I think it is hotel on the edge of Wimbledon Common. I saw a wedding there once and it looked lovely. Let me have a look and see if I can remember where it is.

Ah ha - it came back to me.

No idea of costs etc and what your budget is, but as I said. It looked lovely to me. I have been there many times for drinks / food and it has always been great (with good service too).

    Hope that helps.

Thanks all for your welcome - and thanks charlotte for the wedding fayre list - will put a few on my new 2011 calendar!

And wonky, i know of Cannizaro House and it does look gorgeous but i'd imagine it would be pricey - i know their hotel rooms and restaurant are! But i might give them a call so thank you for the suggestion!

One place that looks nice is Oaks Farm in Croydon, if anyone knows of it?

    Congratulations and officially welcome!!!

The only wedding I have been to in Surrey was at Wotton House - was gorgeous wedding in December but I don't think it was too cheap! Might be worth a look though as out of season could be better.

It sounds like you are on top of things but get the venue and DJ booked as soon as possible - availability of both can be scarce over christmas.
