My fitting...

teeheeyoucrazyguys!, 17 January, 2009 at 23:40 Posted on Planning 0 57

Well, I still like the dress although i'm needing some convincing that I wont be wearing a sleeping bag coz thats what it feels like....... its the panels, its a thick skirt to wear. I need to lose weight badly as i'm unable to sit down or breathe at the minute!! Didnt take many pics but i'll share anyhoo.

It's very "old Hollywood glamour". I love it!

If it only feels tight when you sit down then you shouldn't have too much weight to lose. You've got six months to go: 1lb a month shouldn't be too much to tackle. You could probably do that by justing cutting back on a couple of things.

At last I know what you look like! The dress is really nice and I don't think it looks like you need to lose that much weight.

I started a major diet last Thursday and cut out ALL crap! Seriously everything, I'm only eating what I have to to get through each day so unless I'm hungry I don't eat instead of eating because I was bored or because I was just in the kitchen. Ok I might not have lost any weight (don't know because the batttery in scales died last year and I've not replaced it) but I feel SO much better for it and I do think my tummy looks a bit less round. It's like an achievement every day that I've been good so if I can do it you can as well.

I eventually got into that place in my head that if I didn't stop being a greedy fat lazy arse my beautiful dress wouldn't fit and I'd be wearing down the aisle in my pj's!!

Thanks for your comments Smiley smile

I havent slept well. I really dont know if I've made the right choice and thats it all paid for. My mother would have told me at the original viewing if it didnt suit me, i'm sure. And my bridesmaid said the photos dont so it justice. Soon as that zip went up I darent have breathed as it was tight around my ribs and all. The design is supposed to be an empire line but given i'm a shortie the ruched detail actually sits at my waist. Its very warm and thick (hence the sleeping bag comment) and probably totally unsuitable for a july wedding. I love the bodice but I am having second thoughts about the skirt. I dont know if its worth asking mum to re-design the skirt.

In terms of the weight loss I have a pretty reasonable diet, and I think my main prob is i dont eat enough. I can go through an entire day until the evening if i wanted to, before i had a meal so i'm stepping up the exercise and have been walking even more than i usually do and went to Curves twice this week (never managed my 3rd time) Today i'm going to go on the cross trainer if my knees can take it and do some hula-hooping on the wii, lol.

anyhoo, as you say I have 6 months, i'm 12 stone 10lbs, I used to be 8 stone 12lbs, even 10stone 4lbs is a looks a heavy weight for me.... but i'm not going to lose 4 stone in 6 months am I? blah.

I thought u had seen pics of me PG?? lolol and thanks for the old hollywood glamour comment kelly, that made me Smiley smile too. Least I know I'm achieving the look I want!

    xx

I have only seen pics of the back of you before or with your head chopped off the pics. I'll be honest your dress does look heavy and warm but July might not be that hot going by our previous summers here so I wouldn't worry about the heat factor. I think your skirt looks fine as it is but if you think it needs redesigned chat to your mum. My only worry would be if your mum redesigned it and you still didn't like it could it be put back to the first design?

I NEED to lose over a stone in 3 months because quite simply my dress won't fit otherwise. I know I will do it but it will be hard work and I need to shift this damn viral infection first before I can start running. I'm getting my slendertone and my body pod (like a gym ball but better) out the cupboard and starting my tummy exercises today. My ideal body weight is 8 1/2 stone but I'd settle for 9 now although even that will be pushing it in 3 months!

I think you look lovely, as PurrfectGems said July might not even be warm.

I don't think I have seen a dress like yours before it's very different.

The women in the shop told me yesterday, brides always feel down on there first fitting as it either to long, to big or to small. She said I will feel completeley different at the second fitting when the alterations are done, so don't let yourself get down.

Cheers. I'm arranging to go back in march just to try it on again so thats my first weight loss goal. Mums doing the alterations so I would rather she took the dress in, than out. To be honest, there doesnt look like theres much in the seam allowance to take out! If I tell her its feeling tight i'll never hear the end of it. It needs taken up by an inch so that will help matters too I suppose. So, i've got till march to get moving and to get it shifted!

    Hey Nona,

I think it's lovely and really fits with your theme. The weight loss will happen, you just have to persevere and give it time.

I was interested that you said you're not eating much at all - that might be why you're not losing weight. You see when you go on a drastic diet/stop eating, your body goes into starvation mode and tries to hold onto every calorie - and slows down your metabolism......hence no/little weight loss. Your body doesn't know when its next going to get food, as you don't eat regularly so its not going to burn off any spare calorie just in case IYSWIM

You'd be better off having 3 regular, relatively healthy meals a day and exercising (yawn) every day or every other day. Even a 30 min walk that leaves you out of breath counts, dancing, cycling, carrying heavy shopping, running around with kids - as well as the gym/yoga. Make some time for yourself - things like yoga, pilates are very relaxing - and change the way you feel about your body - just having better posture can help. And there are tons of dvds so you can do it at home - I can recommend mine if you like.

I would also do some resistance training (weights, crunches, press ups etc)- if you build up a little muscle (not saying you don't have any, you know what I mean), your metabolism will speed up as muscle burns more calories than fat does, so even when you're resting, your muscle still continues to burn fat - and you'll be losing weight even when you're not actively exercising.

Try not to see dieting/exercise as a punishment. It's not supposed to be - its not about denying yourself things, its about treating yourself well and looking after yourself. If I don't eat properly, aside from putting on weight, I have massive mood swings (when I had clinical depression, I avoided eating a lot of sugar) and can also have seizures. There are actual health benefits aside from looking hotter than you do already.

Anyway that wasn't supposed to sound harsh, I was trying to help - so hope you see where I'm coming from. I just want you to feel relaxed, happy and even more beautiful than you already are....

    Love

    SG xxxx

You look lovely, that dress is so different to any other I have seen and really really suits you. Like others have said - if it only feels a little tight and when you sit down, then you don't have a lot of weight to shift. it doesn't look that tight on the photos.

DO NOT CHANGE IT IN ANY WAY!!!

Persoanlly I think the dress is stunning and you look great in it. It is quite simple but very stylish and certainly a bit different. From previous posts I think you were having a brooch?

I'm sure dress wobbles are normal.

Yes Diamonds, the brooch comes with the dress but we saw no point putting it on at the minute.

I'm quite overwhelmed by everyones positive comments tbh. I know what you're saying SG, thats why I gained so much weight. I lost a LOT of weight in a very short time a few years ago, living off very little and fags and I was a size 10 for about 2 and half years but have accepted that I was actually making myself ill and had technically a disorder. Mum thinks its all nonsense and says I should get back to looking like that (she didnt know what was going on) but I was close to getting a lollipop head lol.

I've already been on the floor doing stuff, this morning but refused the offer of scrambled eggs for brekkie and had a handful of grapes instead....

anyhooooo this thread isnt supposed to be a weight thread, lol..so thanks again for your comments, i'll keep trying to convince myself that i WILL look good in it. Just wish I could post the pic on the fridge n cupboards but I cant! lolol
