My friends wedding plans ( NOT wp) need help!

nelops, 22 October, 2008 at 23:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

My friend Mike should be getting married on Saturday. He got engaged in Feb, she proposed (only been together a matter of months).

Well she cheated & the weddings off. He found out about 3 months ago. (they havnt been together for a full year yet)

We, as his 3 best mates, didnt want him to be on his own on his special day. So we have planned this....

He got sent an invite in the post telling him to meet us at a pub at 1, we are all wearing black with either hats, facinators &veils!. ( hes a gothic type) He has a cake saying to the happy groom with just a groom on it, A toaster, confetti, we all have button holes made in black roses. Seriously though We bought a really nice special gift for him. Its a lovely leather & silver neckchain & bangle set ( it looks like half a handcuff) & one of those friendship card things. Plus we've ordered 2 bottles of champagne & he has a big fat steak on order for dinner too!

What else could we do cheer him up? Please help!

    What else? Nothing.

What great friends he has, you've all obviously put so much thought into the day. Hope you all enjoy it ?

I have family who were prob Nicks friends but never said "capiche"?it was more "ye' know"

What about making silly bar mats with stupid failed marriage stuff, nothing deep just stuff like "who's marriage never happened because they didn't agree on the colour scheme?" etc, make them up, you'll be fine?

I think that's a great idea. You guys are acknowledging the day, but are there for him without getting too maudlin.

I hope you all have a great time.

Well we had the best time ever. He was suprised by the effort we had gone to & he loved it all!

We even gatecrashed a really wedding & the bride gave him his 1st dance ?. (they had it a pub in town & because it was heavily raining when we tried to get in the bride let us in!)

He said it was better than what he had expected his real wedding to be.
