My mother has cancer

Sorry, I am being the most demanding Hitcher in the world, ever atm. Just had an email from mum, she has colon cancer. She's going in to hospital for surgery tomorrow - she says it "doesn't necessarily mean a death sentence, though it will mean lots of unpleasantness and probably a colostomy bag"....

Sorry, I am being the most demanding Hitcher in the world, ever atm.

Just had an email from mum, she has colon cancer. She's going in to hospital for surgery tomorrow - she says it "doesn't necessarily mean a death sentence, though it will mean lots of unpleasantness and probably a colostomy bag". She's going into hospital later this month for more tests. She seems incredibly calm about, although worried about how my dad will manage without her in the short and longer term. ?

I really, really hope that if it does kill her it does so quickly, and that my dad won't be too sad without her.

Very grateful for any vibes going spare.

Im sorry to hear the news Sophie, I hope you are ok, and that your mum gets through her op well, and that she does relaly well with her treatment. H's dad had his stomach removed last year with cancer, and he just had the all clear, a friends dad had colon cancer and is doing well too. I hope its not all doom and gloom at the end of the tunnel. ?

Oh Sophie, was sad news for you. I hope that whatever surgery and treatment your mum has works for her and she pulls through ok and regains her health. My Great uncle and Gran both had colon cancer, unfortunately it killed my gran, however my great uncle led a great life after surgery and chemo, and flourished. I hope your mum is like my Great uncle and is strong to get through it all and lives a full life afterwards.

Bless you, and your mum and family. x

Oh Sophie I'm so sorry to hear this. I know it is one of the most treatable cancers if they can catch it in good time (H's mum had it) and I really pray they have. Have a virtual ? and I'm just so sorry that you and your family are having to go through this.

My Dad had advanced bowel cancer and went through an 8 hour op in which they removed a large part of his bowel, stomach, and intestines. This was in 2000 and he is fine. There is hope ?

Lots of vibes for you. It's never easy to hear that kind of news. We've just found out that my 84 year old Nan's womb cancer is back and is no longer treatable, and we've had a rough couple of days having the conversations that you shouldn't put off as the oncology nurse put it, but we all feel strangely better for it. I hope it's been caught quickly and is treatable.

Oh Sophie. I'm so sorry to hear your news. I haven't read what everyone else has said yet but I'm sending as many stay strong vibes to you and your family as I can. My mum has MND and the Macmillian nurses are wonderful (they actually support any family going though terminal illnesses). You can get in touch with them with your mum or even on your own. Don't hesitate to ask for help. It's such a lot to deal with.

I'm praying for you, your mum and all your family.

    xxx
