My OH has got a job !!!!!

grace85, 30 June, 2010 at 08:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

Almost a year to the day after being made redundant my OH has got a job. ?

It's only 15 hours a week as a cleaning supervisor but it's a job!

It's not going to benefit us much financially but it's going to do wonders for his self confidence and experience as he was really starting to get down about not being able to find anything.

Pointless post really, i'm just really happy for him. ?

Yeay! Thats great news he must be so pleased, also if the job is only 15 hours per week he should still be entitled to his benefits as well, you only lose them when you work 16 hours or more per week so you may be better off financially then you thought! ?

Yeah somebody else said that, he's got to go to the job centre tomorrow to let them know that he's got a job so hopefully they'll sort it all out then.

The only downside is it's 17.30 - 20.30 so i'll be at work all day then he'll be there most of the evening but i'm going to use it as an excuse to go th the gym at least 3 or 4 times a week, well it's not worth going home to an empty house so may aswell make the most of my spare time, lol.

Thats very motivated of you! I think I would be making the most of having some peace and quiet (my OH talks A LOT!!) ?

But def get him to ask at job centre cos he should still be entitled to something, proabaly his full benefit so that might cheer him up even more x

That's brilliant news Grace. Good on him for keeping so motivated and wanting to work and good on you for being so supportive. Hope it leads to much more soon x

That's what we're both hoping for, as he'll still have the day times free he can still look for a full time job and go to interview's etc and he'll also be gaining supervisiory experience.

    Thanks Ladies ?

There's been some real s**t times over the last year where we've both been so fed up of having no money and not being able to do anything, but hopefully things will be looking up now.

    xx

Really pleased for you! I certainly know how it feels on the work front. My OH lost his job May last year (Wedding in Dec following) and didn't manage to get another until January. For that one he had to move all the way up to birmingham, we never saw each other, then after the 3 month probationary they fired him without warning. It took him another 2 months to get another job, so he started in June and then on Monday this week came home to say he was let go as the bottom has fallen out of the market. Back to the drawing board!

Pleased for you though, it gives me hope!

That's really good news, my hub lost his job last September (wedding was May 1st) and he found a job at the end of February so I totally sympathise with everyone who has a partner out of work because it is sooooo stressful.

The economy is just so rubbish at the moment, and we're in Swindon which is apparetnly one of the worst hit places in the country, bloody typical, ? lol!!

OH went to sign on this morning and told them about his job and he's still got to go in and sign on every other week but he's got to take proof of the hours he's worked or something, not sure what he'll get now but anything will be a bonus.
