Well my "day" finally came on Saturday! Not my wedding day but it certainly felt like it as far as nerves and excitement went!
Embrace Bridal Boutique opened its doors on Saturday at 10am and my biggest fear was too spend my opening day sitting on my tod waiting for the door to open but I need not have worried because at 10.05 (and before I had my lipstick on) my door opened and my first customer, along with her maid of honour, walked through the door. Her reaction was amazing and made all the hard work worthwhile. They browsed through the 50 gowns I had in store, all in size 16 and above, sat and had a glass of champagne and talked through with me what they were looking for.
This pattern continued through the day and at closing time (eventually closed the doors at 6.30pm) I was exhausted but absolutely overwhelmed by peoples reactions at the shop. There were a couple of times over the last 2 or 3 weeks that I wondered if I were taking a huge risk becoming a 16+ specialist (especially after a recent "discussion" on one of the forums) but I had such amazing feedback that I am 110% convinced I am doing the right thing and concentrating on my fabulous curvy brides.
I would like to say a huge personal thanks to all you wonderful ladies who have supported me through the lead up to opening (you know who you are) and I look forward to welcoming those of you who struggle to find samples in store to fit, despite being what is now the average dress size.
A few pics follow, none of the ladies are models, they are friends and family and are all wearing gowns in a size 16 and above. Apologies if the pics have come out huge!
