nammy502, 19 June, 2014 at 12:19 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi everyone,

Just thought with it being 1 year today til our big day *does a little dance* i would start myself abit of a self indulgent thread!! heheh!!

I will keep it updated as much as I can over the next year til the big day.

this is my venue

colour theme is pink and our top table will be round not straight like this.

flower colours and inspiration

My dress (not me in pics!) it will also be in white not ivory.

So with 10months to go i thought i would update with some more flashes......

my shoes

Maid of Honour dress (i have 2 MOH but no BMs)

Jewellery for the MOH

and this is the front of our invitations

That dress is wider than my aisle was !!

My mind goes immediately to the practicalities.... are you walking the aisle alone or do you need to fit two of you down?!

I've never seen a proper princess style (is that what it's called?) dress in person. Kind of makes me want to come to your wedding and see you twirl about in it, wearing glass slippers! ?

My Stepdaughter to be had a full princess dress and she and her Dad walked down the aisle with no problem. If the dress had been too long then it could be an issue but that applies to any dress. x

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments.

Clairedawn- it is very wide and the thought has crossed my mind about walking down the aisle with my dad, but it's quite squishy rather than a stiff skirt. I have an hoop that helps poof it out alittle more!! :-)

I can't wait to twirl around in it, I also haven't tried sitting down in it yet. I might get swamped in layers of material hehe!!

Phew!! (my aisle was very small I think, in a civil ceremony, which was what got me thinking!).

It'll look awesome twirling around. If you don't have a videographer (we didn't), maybe ask a friend to film your first dance on a posh camera phone, so you get to see it back in motion?

I used 3 napkins to cover my lap when I sat down for the meal, as even small dresses poof up. In your position, I would genuinely ask the staff to leave a small tablecloth under the dinner table for me (most venues have some 50 by 50 tablecloths knocking around). None of your guests will see it under the table, and it'll sit on your lap and protect your whole dress in one go Smiley smile

Although, here's a thought - if your dress is problematic sitting down, maybe just remove the hoop-skirt for the meal? I'd practice sitting both ways at the final fitting ?

Hi Claire - i only got the hoop to keep the dress off my legs as i didnt like the feeling of it, but yes im going to ask to sit down in it when i go for fittings to see how it feels with all 15 layers - YES 15!!! eek!!!

Ive already banned red wine and gravy from myself on the actual day but it will be ok, i guess ill just stick to the bubbly and some vodka/lemonades!! I have a terrible habit of spilling things down myself when wearing white or pale coloured tops!!

It has also got quite a long train for a princess dress, so im also asking the steamstress to add in some bustle ties so i can dance around and not worry too much, it does have a wrist hoop/handle thingy but i dont want to carry it all night long!!

I made the same rule for myself, LOL. But actually it was my groom I was worried about as he wouldn't agree to no red wine, as we were having steak. It was either make him sit at least a metre away from me, or cover my lap, ?
