Well finally I have got a free evening hubby and the new addition to our family are both out so I thought I would take advantage and finally get around to writing my report for you all.
Having a week off before was the best idea I ever had it meant I was so chilled and organised for the big day it was lovely.
Friday
After finally leaving my house and H2B ringing around trying to find someone to give his friend a lift for the day at 9pm!! And after us having a major wobble about the last minute DJ choice but being reassured by my friend who organised it for me I arrived at my mum and dad’s. They were both out having drinks with family who arrived the night before, so I searched the house for a drop of alcohol which wasn’t very successful ended up checking my music disc for the DJ, as he didn’t have all the music we wanted!, with the last drop of southern comfort with the only mixer I could find soda water!! The parents arrived home and after a little conversation with my 92 yr old great aunt and watching Jonathan Ross went to bed, as there were guests staying at my mum’s had to share a bed with her whilst my dad slept up on the blow up bed! Had the worst night’s sleep of my life, was freezing cold and just couldn’t switch off enough to fall completely asleep by 4am I got up put on a jumper and a BIG pair of socks and downed a couple of paracetamol, good tip to knock you out LOL.
Saturday
Woke up at 8.30am feeling pretty shattered. Took myself off downstairs for a cuppa and breakfast ended up having a good old natter with my brother and his girlf which was nice, feeling super relaxed went off to get showered before my 11am hair appt. As everyone was busy getting themselves ready I took myself off to the hairdressers where my friend was meeting me. Got at the hairdressers and realised I was wearing the most unsuitable jumper ever!! Doh!! Luckily over my roll neck jumper I had my biggest baggiest jumper LOL Had a very lovely time getting my hair done and was very pleased with the outcome.
The day carried on like that very relaxed with everyone turning up on time, whilst I was having my make-up done the photographer arrived and even commented on how relaxed the house was. Altho before we knew it the timings we had planned went out of the window and we all ended up rushing out of the door together at 3.10pm, mum had wanted to leave with my bro, who had the music for the church and the order of services that he was supposed to be handing out!!, was supposed to leave at 2.45pm.

Finally dad and I got in the beautiful vintage car and that’s when the nerves begun, altho they were interrupted when behind us on the way was a friend rushing to beat us waving frantically when we turned around to see them!
Outside the church had the loveliest surprise my best friend’s mum and her best mate were waiting outside to see us, I was unable to invite them to the wedding because of numbers, it was great. And yet more banter occurred when the photographer was taking pics of Dad and I from a very dodgy angle for us, noses aren’t our prettiest feature in our family LOL.
I then heard ‘Hallelujah’ playing from the church and saw the vicar making his way towards us. After a quick chat we waited for our queue and this was when the nerves really set in, and I could feel my face drop, my face gives everything away. We begun to walk down the aisle and I clocked a friend from work, she only winked at me and I felt the emotions wash over me so I knew at that point I wasn’t going to be able to look at anyone else in the congregation so looked dead ahead. My friends commented later on how nervous I looked. When we got to the front OH looked so handsome everything was perfect and from this moment on I don’t think I stopped grinning like a Cheshire cat.
It went so smoothly couldn’t have been happier, once we got in to the side room to sign the register there was some hilarity my OH broke the beautiful ink pen, and we had to search around for a dodgy biro instead.
Unfortunately the rain had also begun to fall at this point so when we all exited we all returned as agreed for pics inside the church, which was a little disappointing, although we still got down to the harbour to take some beautiful pics.
When we arrived at the venue it was more than I could have hoped, the caterer had provided canapés that were amazing that we hadn’t even asked for, and the room which was previously fairly drab looked fantastic with the drapes my mum had made, the tables were all laid out formally (which again wasn’t the original plan the caterers had again done over and above what we had asked) and a little surprise that my mum had made with our names and the date up on the wall in burgundy and sparkling jewels. With our bucksfizz in hand we were announced and cheered in to the room as we made our way to the top table.
After what was fantastic food and an ever more relaxing evening my dad tapped me on the shoulder and the speeches began, my dad did a lovely speech and then my Husband took his turn, by this point T had had more than a few, in fact I think he had a few strong ones even before the church!, and so his speech was absolutely hilarious, as a result of the tipples he just couldn’t get past the first line ‘My Wife and I’ this was said about 10 times and everyone was cheering! He did get through it and he, as thoughtful as always, surprised my mum with the most beautiful bunch of roses. And then the best man’s speech was amazing thoughtful and amusing in all the right places.
We then commenced to cutting the cake
and then the 1st dance, where again the alcohol took over and OH begun trying to lift me and do his usual drunken bump and grind dancing which was hilarious. I think if I hadn’t been so happy and enjoying the day so much I could have got annoyed but nothing could dampen my spirits that day.
My best friend even commented on how patient I had been, not always my greatest attribute. Friends from work when I mingled around the tables asked me if the smile was going to wipe off in the morning.
And then came the entertainment in the form of the band whom were just fabulous, everyone was up and dancing and after nearly 2 hours of what was amazing music from them, the last minute DJ begun, who was outstanding as well. He was spot on with the music and played all the ones we had asked for and more before we knew it we had danced away the night and our taxi was waiting for us outside, at this point my friend came to say goodbye and for some reason I just burst in to tears I think the emotion of the day, her lovely words and of course the free flowing southern comfort all came to ahead at midnight.
We then left for our lovely sea view suite at the hotel where after managing to extract most of the hair pins we collapsed, altho we still managed to consummate things which I’ve heard is pretty rare LOL and woke up to this the next day.
