My shoes have arrived . . . slight dilema!

Sarah-Em, 19 March, 2011 at 18:06 Posted on Planning 0 5

I've been looking at wedding shoes for ages, but have only really found the one pair that I actaully like, I'm not really much of a girly girl and haven't worn any form of heels for years, but I loved this pair so though what the hell and decided to order them:

They arrived today and they're absolutely perfect in every way . . . except the fact that they're slingbacks, I love the style and everything about them (apart from the fact that I know that they will cause me imense pain and suffering, but I am prepared to endure this for one day!), but how do you keep the bloody things on your feet? Any advice on shoes sticking tips would be greatly appreciated.

They stay on if I take tiny little pigeon steps, and walking down the aisle I imagine I'll be doing this anyway, but I'd just like to feel a little more secure in them, so any ideas?

They fit on the lowest buckle hole as it is, it was my hope that I'd just be able to tighten the straps REALLY tight to keep them o. I did think about trying to get another hole made, but as they're satin I'm too scared they'll fray or be ruined somehow. I'm thinking of using something similar to insomniac03's suggestion above and using Scholl slingback tape and maybe ball of foor gel pads, just not sure with such a slim starp the sticky stuff will be very effective.

Usually you just tighten them enough and they stay on. You shouldnt have a problem making another hole if you want to try it just pull them tighter and thread the buckle without putting the tongue through if you see what i mean it should hold while you try it. It really is the only way to stop them slipping off. if you do make another hole make it fromthe outside with a darning needle first

You'll be fine making a new hole, but if you are worried, do it with a needle and try and aim between the threads of satin - if you dont break any then it cannot fray.

You just need to get more friction on the back of your heel, so anything sticky is good - it doesn't need to hold the strap still, just give it something to hold onto. So I'd put the tape onto your heel, not the strap.

Also, make sure the slingback is sitting high enough, it should be above the round of your heel, so at the skinniest bit of the back of your ankle.

If you post a pic of them on then I'll check. After that, its all just practice Smiley smile

Not sure you would want them too tight as your feet will warm up and swell slightly. You can get little gel inserts, I think they are called party heels from shops like Boots, and these would push your foot a little higher in the shoe. Don't know if this helps but might be worth a try.
