My STD's have arrived....

mummy2hannah, 10 October, 2009 at 18:13 Posted on Planning 0 15

Heeey everyone!

I got my STD's this morning from Vistaprint!! Really quick, they wernt supposed to be here til Wednesday!!

I couldn't get a clear pic on my camera, so I saved the one from their website and edited our numbers in Paint...sounds simple, but I havn't used Paint in years and I'm not used to this laptop mouse yet. So please excuse the wobbly lines over our phone numbers lol...

It's now all starting to seem so real ?

    Thanks Tango!

My God your ticker has ticked away loads since I last saw you on here! How you getting on? All settled into the house now?

I should've added that they're fridge magnets, not cards xxx

HI you know I wasn't looking at my ticker until you mentioned it just now and its a little scary!!! the house is great but also there's so much to do! started sanding down the walls today and seen as i'm here writing this you can gather it was such hard work I had to take several breaks!...

Wedding planning? well, not much has progressed and money has been sucking into the house, so not great, but I'm still optimistic (well, I go up and down about it - today is an optimistic day). OH has set up the computer so I can at least start on the invites which should be fun, My friend who's making my dress says she's nearly ready for first fitting - its oly the bottom layer but she said once that's perfect she can build on top of that. need to get some cake tins so I can practice the cakes, still not sure about table centers but got other details more or less planned in my head and saved on the computer - so know where I'm going with the rest...

oh - and now OH wants to put together a dance routine for our first dance, can you believe it?! I' still in denial about that one,...

sorry this ended up a long one!

Love the magnets idea - fab fab!!!! have you done your invites?

I HATE MY LAPTOP!!! just wrote out a long post to you and accidentally deleted it!! Keep forgetting how sensitive the mouse pad bit is....really not used to laptops, only got it this week lol.

ahh atleast you have an idea in your head of how things will be! Have you decided on your favours? Are you making your cakes too?! I havn't got a creative bone in my body so am very jealous!! lol...even though it's only the bottom layer of the dress, I'm sure once you've had that fitting you'll feel more optimistic! you must be getting anxious now...so atleast you'll know how it's progressing!! Can't wait to see it! Do you think OH is serious about the dance routine? Hopefully it'll just blow over lol... and yes hun, take lots of tea breaks from the house lol get MrTango to do the majority...how much work are you having to put in? like does it all need decorating or are some rooms ok? Have you had to buy lots of new furniture?

Nope, I havn't done the invites. Havn't even got a bloody colour scheme! One of my bridesmaids is a red head and nothing seems to match!! I thought the blue would, but I was speaking to someone on here and they said the blue really didn't flatter their red headed BM lol....not fussed if the STD and invite don't match - I think it looks lovely when they all match and everything ties in nicely, but oh well, tough if it doesn't! I've got everything else pretty much sorted in my head/on my comp lol

Thanks mummy2hannah, I saw your redhead dress query I actually thought blue or aqua would work - but what do i know... I think it depends more on the complexioun than the hair....

Mr Tango is being very helpful with the house but we are out of sync with our timing unfortunately - when he wants to do most of the work I'm already tired - and when I do he's still sleeping.. hee hee. Doing the living room and dinning room and guest room so not too much - but the walls are in a bit of a state (we found out when we removed the wallpaper ) so lots of sanding and filling and sanding again.

I don't thing everything has to match, you could match your invites and STDs to your destination wedding which is more exciting then matching it to the dresses/flowers, etc. I saw some really nice ideas online - things like invites made to look like travel tags, tickets etc or something Cypriote (spelling?!) in style.

Yep making almost everything.. (thats the plan, lol). not entirely decided on favours but thought maybe little home made jams or something like that (with me everything is about food...)

    Hi Mummy2Hannah,

I feel really bad about the red head comment as its my BM complexion as well it doesn't suit and she's not keen on the colour! I feel I've made things harder for you? Have you asked your BM is she fancies blue?

I was thinking about your colours earlier and I went to a beach wedding in Oz in February and they had a teal colour - kind of sea green and used shells to decorate the tables and as a theme.

I love your save the dates!

    xx

.. that was my instinctive thought, too - to play on the holiday theme and go with aqua/blue tones.

But your colour scheme is lovely and I'm sure it will work. Maybe take the Brown a few shades lighter just to go with the hot weather. I think it will work.

Shells!! how have I not thought of these?! So simple and effective! My head's been battered by colours for so long now, so thank you so much for that tip! Tango, I actually think if I don't have chocolate brown then I don't want brown atall...it's only because of how the idea of everything looks in my head, not sure if the lighter one will go! I just need to actually talk to her, rather than post a message on here about it I guess!

Sorry for the really late reply btw, I've had a very grumpy baby tonight!!

Tango - I know what you mean about being 'out of sync' with oh...he works night shift, so even just to get in to tidy our room is a nightmare as he's asleep during the day!! God knows what's going to happen when we're in your shoes and need to decorate lol. have you got much left to do btw?
I've seen airline tickets as invites and think they're a great idea - having the stump as an RSVP! The luggage tags look great too, I've found some which I may have as favours, or possibly personalised fans!

NicNacNoo - Don't feel bad! lol yes it was you I was on about talking to earlier but you've made it up with the teal and shell idea ?....and as for speaking to her, she lives in Ireland so it's only really via emails and facebook...and her facebook chat thing's rubbish! it keeps logging her off! We never seem to have credit at the same time for texts lol. I'll reply to your other post in the 2011 thread now xx

Cheers Kirsty! Just when I saw how yours all tie in so lovely, I was abit dis-heartened! But now, like Tango suggested, match everything to a theme rather than by colour!

Strange we got them on the same day lol. When were yours supposed to arrive? xx

Mummy2hannah I'm glad you've got direction now - you can enjoy the planning agin...

We did quite a lot yesterday (on the first room still) but after doing some sanding my back is killing me this morning - I have a bad back anyway and I think I over did it with the stupid small sander that shakes your joints like mad, now w're thinking of buying one of those belt sanders but they cost about 100 quid which is a lot of money going into the house again. now I see why people get someone to do it for them, for 20 quid a day we may had actually come to the same amount. oh well hopefully it will be worth it in the end...

    and some beach ideas -

Mr tango wanted to do something with shells and I had to remind him we are getting married in Richmond Park so there is not a beach in sight and would it look a bit strange...

I'm loving those beach theme piccies tah!! shells are definetly the way to go!!

I love your venue...originally I was toying at getting married near my dad's...he lives near Heathrow, and that was one of the places we looked at. I'm still not sure how we've ended up going abroad lol.

How's your back now? Doing the house yourself will make it even more special in the end! What colours have you gone for in the rooms? I'm dying for us to get our own place, can't wait to do it up and be the 'mum' of the household! Although, like you say, the house really does suck up a lot of money! So in some ways I'm happy to stay here til after the wedding! xx
