My Stuff *Flash*

JanetJones, 11 February, 2013 at 17:41 Posted on Planning 0 9

I have never flashed before. Well, not on a forum anyway. I have been loitering, and thought you might want to have a look at my stuff. I am 40 on my wedding day (its my birthday - YAY!) so I haven't gone for a traditional gown, as I would feel a but mutton dressed as lamb, but here is my stuff that I have bought so far.

My Dress:

House of Fraser - £140 - well happy with it

Shoes

Not really a fan of Ivory shoes to be honest, but as my theme is yellow, I couldn't find any yellow shoes that weren't ridiculously gaudy and - well, Yellow.

Flowers

These aren't the actual flowers - they are going to be a bit more "straggly" than this, although the florist would rather I used the term "loose" than "Straggly"

And the old man's suit:

But with yellow tie / hanky thing.

And my hair is a bob, so its going to have a 1950's edge.

So there. Not too over the top, is it? For an old bird, like?

You're not an old bird and if you wanted to wear an OTT frock then that would be cool too (I learnt that on here at the tender age of 46 lol) Your dress is lovely (and your straggly flowers) it all looks lovely.

I went to a bridal boutique with my sister in law - or at least - my ex-sister-in-law-to-be (she used to be married to my old man's brother - very complicated) and I felt terribly self conscious, the shop lady kept following me round going "Try this, bride" and "Try that, bride" (my name is Jan?) and she got on my nerves so much I went to the House of Fraser and done the trying on thing in the changing rooms.

I didn't enjoy the bridal boutique thing at all. And I certainly didn't enjoy the bridal boutique price tags. Lol.

I knew I always wanted a shorter dress though - its longer on me than on this girl as I am bit of a short arse and I should imagine she's about six foot tall, so its more tea-length than knee length. Its perfect for me, but I am not sure whether it needs petti-coating.

I don't want to look like one of those toilet roll covers, I don't really think the dress has enough swoosh for more petticoat - its got a two layered built in one?

There is a lady on here who wore the most beautiful tea length dress (her hubby wore converse shoes) and I was kind of looking for that sort of thing.

Yes, I love the dress too. It's even nicer in the flesh. Not too sure about the shoes, but they were in the next sale and were a bargain - plus I bought some flat ballerina style ones for throwing shapes on the dance floor later. So they won't be on for long.

I get married in seven weeks, I am getting quite excited about it.

Thank you, I love it. It was the first thing I bought and luckily, I haven't wobbled yet. I am so pleased with it.
