My turn to get stupidly over-excited!!

bygeorge, 21 January, 2009 at 11:32 Posted on Planning 0 12

Yesterday it was Spring and her filofax - today it's me. I've just taken delivery of 12 ornamental birdcages to use as table centres for a wedding I'm doing in a couple of months. I love them!! I've spent an hour putting them all together, and now they're beautifully arranged on my dining table. What is happening to me?!

    Oooh, lovely.

We're having birdcage table centres. What are you going to put in them?

There are similar to ours, but we're having cream roses and hydrangea with the vintage roses.

Sounds lovely! For the wedding I'm using them for so far they'll have lilac hydrangea, sweet peas, freesia and lilac in them, with a lilac butterfly on the top. Other than that; who knows!! I'm doing a wedding fayre in a couple of weeks with a green themed bouquet, and might try to use them somehow for that too!

The cage (and the picture) belong to my florist, I guess she does a similar thing to George.

I've had a bird cage with ivy growing in it at home for years, but it's no where near as pretty!

Ali and George, how beautiful! I am having a vintage themed wedding and those birdcages would be perfect, Ali can you tell me the name of your florist?

Sure, it's Jill Jeffires. She's based in Colerne.

I see you're from Bath - where are you having your wedding?

Yorkshire, unfortunately! ? I live in Bath but I'm from Sheffield originally and pretty much all of my family and H2B's family live up north so it was easier to have the wedding up there, Hazlewood Castle incidently. It's a bit of a faff actually as some suppliers are up there and some are down here lol! Thanks for the florist, hopefully they can deliver.

    Lol,

I'm from Yorks and live/work in Bath too!

Most of my friends are here now, and H2b has a huge family all from round here so we're having ours locally.

Hazlewood looks gorgeous! I've never been there, but the website looks like an amazing venue!

I know Jill delivers locally, but it might be a better idea to get a florist up north who can arrange them and do it all on the morning while you're pampering/panicking - I should imagine you'll have a lot of stuff to take up with you as well! It seems like a lot of florists do the birdcages as they're becoming very popular. If not, they may be able to get hold of some.

What a weird coincidence! We've just moved here, am really loving it.

I was really struggling to find a venue that had all that I wanted in Yorkshire, but then I came across it randomly and just fell in love with it and it fits in perfectly with my theme.

My venue has a list of local florists who they work with quite a lot so will probably go round those and see who can accomodate my needs lol.

    Whereabouts are you getting married?

Oh and apologies to the OP, we appear to have hijacked your post ?

Castle Combe. The hotel there, not the race track (although he probably would given the chance!).

I know the one you mean, what a lovely place, I love the way it's all hidden in the trees, had afternoon tea there once and it was very scrummy!

Funnily enough my H2b is a journalist and while he was doing his training he had a job at Castle Combe racetrack, photographing and interviewing drivers on a track day and he got to drive it and said it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be so you can console your H2b with that ?.
