Our Churh

Outside of Reception venue

Inside our Venue

I love the Church (its booked) The inside of the venue is decorated lovely and we have ALOT of say how we want things what bothers me is the Outside of the venue and there is no grounds (its a ballroom) whats peoples opinions is the outside of the venue important will people remember it? Any adice how we could decorate the outside a little? The main entrance to the ballroom has got red carpet & flowered arched way.

Anyone else not having country house, hall, hotel or castle for there reception venue ? x

We have found a fab place for our ceremony but looking for a reception venue and due to funds are most likely to have it in a pub/restaurant etc ...
i agree you should focus on the inside of the venue...make it personal to you and your OH!

Have you got exclusive use? if not will you be able to decorate the outside? if you can how about bunting/tealights on the tables (something cheap incase people walking past decide to take them (as it looks like it goes onto the pavement?)

No matter what you can make it very personal to you and your OH, you don't need a fancy venue for that! x

Thank you yes i love our Church and this is the main reason we havent gone for a Hall/country house as they is none local aviable to have the reception and to go further a field would really mean having the whole day in the venue.

We have aviable £10000 to spned on everyting we could get country house for £5000 inc food n drinks but my OH thinks it is to much money to spend on other people when we could save it to spend on our Honeymoon Smiley smile i no this is true but its difficult to decide what to spend the money on. The day should be about ME and OH but i cant help what other people will think Smiley sad

We are having welcome drinks with canpes 3 course sit down meal with wine and champage for toast Buffet on the evening with singer and a band with disco to finish. so i hoping people will remember all this rather then the venue.

(sorry to moan on just my family say what i want to hear so greatful for honest opinions)

We have a budget about the same as you and have budgeted £5500 for both ceremony and reception venues, all food and all drink...and we have been struggling at that!!

Do what YOU want for YOURSELVES not what your family or other people want...it's really hard not to think 'what will people think of this' but at the end of the day someone is always going to have a grander venue or a free bar or more extravagent flowers...don't compete just do what you and your OH want and if thats a blinking good honeymoon then prioritise that!

it sounds like you are providing plenty for your guests and nobody will think any less...sounds fab to me! x

Mrs W 2B - I chose my wedding dress with less stress then the Venue never though it would be so difficult and so many things to think about Smiley sad

Yes we have exclusive use of the ballroom and lounge area. That is one thing that has put me off other venues that are better looking on the outside (hope that makes sense) as they can have upto 3 weddings on the same day i would hate to see another bride on my wedding day.

thank you i like the idea of tealighs on the outside tables especially for when the evening guests arrive Smiley smile x

I really wouldn't worry, people will only see it for a couple of minutes before they go in and then you can wow them with how you've decorated it. Love your church!

The only thing i can think of for the outside is maybe some bunting, very easy way to add a bit of colour. I am not having a typical venue (it will be in a school) and whilst it is a beautiful building, the grounds arent anywhere near as nice as a country house etc. But if Dont tell the bride has taught me anything, its that the outside of a venue really doesnt matter, once your guests are inside enjoying themselves, they will have totally forgotten where they are, especially if you have free reign to make this look exactly as you want.

Maybe some balloons at the door or tealights as others have suggested. I have a budget of £2500 for everything, and I am having my ceremony outside in the gardens of a registry office and then getting an open top bus to my evening reception (not doing sit down meal). My evening reception is a bar which to be honest doesn't look too bad but it isn't spectacular by any stretch - I was thinking about having my reception in a local social club and the outside of that is a whole lot worse than your venue but the inside is lovely - a lot like yours actually. We decided against this because the city centre bar was cheaper and didn't need chair covers which were just an additional expense.

But, I would have gone with that venue if I hadn't found anything cheaper because inside it was lovely and the drinks were cheap - at the end of the day if anyone judges your day on the outside of your venue, they're not worth knowing. Sod them, get them all in quickly and then have fun.

When is your wedding? A winter wedding you may not miss the outside space as much as if it were a summer wedding.

I am having a church wedding then the reception in a night club. the inside of your venue is lovely and the red carpet and flower archway sounds lovely. Where is the smoking area because that is the only place where people will be standing at any time other then inside enjoying your wedding. When people arrive they dont linger outside the front for too long they want to get in to see the venue, get a drink and eat. Try not to worry too much about the outside, some bunting like someone said previously mabey but thats all.

I think its great! The inside of the venue is what matters really.

Are there grounds at the church that you could use for your photos?

    This!

I must admit I've had a couple of raised eyebrows when I say our reception is in our friends pub/restaurant but we're getting exclusive use of the restaurant area etc and it really is lovely, everyone I've taken to see it so far has loved it too!

Like the others said once everyone is inside they'll not remember what the outside looks like !! The inside looks amazing .... And that's where you'll spend most of the day !! Your guests are there to enjoy the day with you after all. When is you wedding ?? The only thing you might want to consider is if there are any young children that might want to run about outside and let off steam.
