My Wedding Dress

Becklarrr, 17 April, 2013 at 15:55 Posted on Planning 0 26

Has arrived!!! I just got the phone call from the bridal shop! I wasn't expecting it to come in until end of next month but it has arrived early!

So excited!

When should I go for my first fitting? Probably not for a while yet I would imagine?

    Woooo!

I went for my first fitting about 6 weeks before the wedding.

No point going much earlier as you can change shape too much.

    Woo!!

I have also had a call this afternoon to say mine is in stock too!

I'm going to go and try it on, but not for a fitting, won't have those until 3-4 weeks before.

I'm nervous! Hope it fits... etc!

    2) It is the wrong colour

    3) Its far too small for me

Yep they said that they will store it free of charge for me for as long as I want which is good! ?

How many fittings do you have, just the one? Or do you have one fitting about 6/8 before the wedding and then one a couple of weeks before?

I had two but needed hardly any alterations, especially as it was tea length.

The norm is two or three - with the final one being 2/3 weeks before the wedding. You then normally take it with you.

Ahhhh brilliant news B! I had to start my alterations in the January, we got married in July but my dress had to be taking in a fair few sizes. I think I had about 5 fittings before it was just how I wanted it.

Can we have a sneaky flash please?

Becklarr I really adore your dress, its kind of like mine, but mine doesn't have a belt and is kind of a bit stiffer looking and I wonder if a belt would improve it. Would you mind telling me the designer?

    Thank you!

That's such a beautiful dress! I really love lace.

When mine came in a couple of months ago (6 months before actual wedding), I had to go in and try it on within a month to check there was imperfections with the dress and to pay the balance of the dress now it had arrived. It was so exciting to wear my 'actual' dress, rather than the sample one. I also had to choose my accessories when I tried it on.

If you don't have to do any of this, then I still don't think it would be unreasonable to ask to go and try it on now ?

I have also already booked my fittings, which will be 5 weeks before and 3 weeks before, with the possibility of another after that if need be.

Ah! One less moment of insanity for me this week, thanks for confirming!!

Last week I put a day count down on my phone and it seems closer in days than months- which I know is ridiculous!
