My wedding report. 11th October

LalaC1988, 4 January, 2015 at 16:25 Posted on Planning 0 6

So, this is my wedding report. It wont be as well written as some reports on here and will probably not make sence in some areas, but this is the story of the best day of my life, the day I married the love of my life Smiley smile You probably wont want to read half the silly details lol.

We met the start of August 2012 - on Plenty of fish. We was supposed to meet a week earlier than we actually did but it was the Olympics at the time we met and hubby had gone down his friend messed his train tickets up, so hubby thought he was coming back 9AM it was actually 9PM. As a rule of thumb, when i was online dating if a guy cancelled on me particuarly last minute there wasnt a rearranged date, however I felt something for hubby to be (unbeknown to me at the time!) and rearranged, he spent the whole day he was in London texting me/sending me funny pictures and getting to know me, it was such a lovely feeling even when watching the wrestling at the Olympics I was on his mind Smiley smile

So officially, we met on the 21st August - became facebook official 23rd August. Friends was gobsmacked, told me it was too fast - it wouldnt ever work. Yes it would!! So I pretty much moved in with him straight away - or rather came one day and kept coming more and more regular until I just didnt go home anymore!!

That Christmas, he had already got a holiday booked before we had met and no way I could go with him, I missed him soo much I couldnt stand to be away from him, I think it was at this point 'i knew' that he was a very significant part of my future. Before he went away, he had asked me to move in with him, we had a fake christmas and he put clues around the house for me to find my key Smiley smile

We had the most magical first year together - whilst we never 'changed' each other we gradually 'improved' each others lives and as cliche as this sounds - we became the very best of friends. I had told him I had very bad run with birthdays the few years before we met, just something always went wrong, so he took me on a suprise trip for my birthday. I knew I was going, but he wouldn't tell me ANYTHING about where we was going I had no clue just dates, on the way down to London (we flew from Heathrow as I am a geek and had always wanted to fly on BA!!) he suprised me with three books and I had to guess where we was going from the clues he gave me. He took me to Barcelona, I had always wanted to go there I sobbed on the train and rang my mum LOL.

We had the most perfect time.

Shortly after I was telling him I had always 'wanted' to be able to drive but for lots of reasons I never managed to keep my lessons up/I was easily defeated so he encouraged me to buy a car and the following summer we drove round almost continuously at the same time as lessons and somehow three months later I had my driving licence.

So as I say, he made such a magical influence on my life.

(to be continued... dont want to write too much and loose it!!)

We booked a Holiday to Cuba for the 11th October - and I remember saying to a friend, that I had a 'feeling' but convinced myself if it was going to happen it would be the start of the holiday and it never did, I was a bit disappointed but nevertheless we had an amazing time. On the last day, as we was stopping on Cayo Coco (an Island off Cuba) we flew over to Havana to the day, it felt so romantic on the way home I contemplated asking him to marry me, but no although I am a modern girl I had always wanted to be proposed to. So we got back to our hotel had some dinner and then he wanted to go see the beach one last time, I batted him off that I was tierd and he would go in the morning before we left. But he was adament we went that evening.

We was sat on a sun bed looking at the ocean talking about our amazing holiday and we then stood up and walked slightly to the sea - he said he had something to ask me, I thought it was going to be something funny like can we go skinny dip.

But I got my proposal Smiley smile Perfect under the stars on the nicest beach ive ever seen. He later admitted he was considering asking me on the plane in front of everybody the following day, I am so glad i got my beach proposal. The following day traveling home felt like FOREVER I was so excited to tell everybody. Hubby made me promise that I wouldnt talk about it constantly lol originally when he proposed I said I wanted may 2015.

I will never forget getting home to my parents and telling them the squeel my mum did!!

Picking bridesmaids/pageboys was an obvious decision it was all the kids we had in our family, we couldnt pick just one - so we ended up with 5 bridesmaids under 8 three pageboys under four and my oldest nephew, 9 as a sort of usher.

Their beautiful dresses was courtesy of TESCO would you believe. I was googling dvds last christmas, and 'occasion' wear came up I ended up buying their dresses there and then - was so pleased with them and they was a complete bargain £35 for a dress and shrug!!

Picking our venue we was so shocked how expensive everything was - and was toying with lots of options, I fancied marrying abroad but husband wouldn't as his parents would attend and deep down we both wanted the children in our family to experience it and everybody to enjoy it. Almost signed for another venue then we found the most amazing offer on Groupon and ended up picking woodborough Hall, Nottingham. We didnt realise until nearer the time how funny it was that we had picked 11th October - the day we flew out on the holiday we was to get engaged on!!

My wedding dress shopping happened with my mum, she refused to 'let' me go try wedding dresses on without her - she was just so excited, it was beautiful. I didnt think i wanted a traditional dress, and to cut a long story short ended up with two off the rack dresses on hold but I then went to the Berketex outlet store in Nottingham (if you are local, I completely recommend this place, if your struggling for a dress and dont find one here, you arent going to find one!!) and I tried on a 'princess' dress I had my moment and took the dress away with me there and then. Walking through the city with my dress bag I heard a few people going 'aww bride' - that was lovely. It then occupied a spare wardrobe at mum and dads and mum kept it carefully on guard for nobody to see it before our day.

I had dress doubts periodically throughout my planning time, sometimes I wondered whether it looked good enough sometimes I had me doubts in the end I did have to have the dress altered quite a lot as time caught away with me i ended up getting stressed weight was gained blah blah blah - but little hint to any brides going through this, nobody knew unless i told them so who really cares?

Picking our wedding cake was one of my favourite parts of the planning process - particuarly the sampling part!!

To save money we did quite a few things DIY - table decorations/invites/things like that.

    So..

    onto the wedding day.

On the morning of the wedding - I was driving myself to the wedding venue. And I took my car to the car wash in the morning as I couldnt put my dress in the car without that happening and went to Asda to get some 'supplies' of sugar etc for during the getting ready process. Thats certainly an unusual thing to do on the morning of your wedding I am sure.

Fast forward an hour or so, we got to the wedding venue and the process of getting ready started. Try as I might, I struggle to remember much detail that morning, it was such a busy commotion of people arriving/getting bits and bobs done the venue staff asking questions and generally getting organised. I was a lot Calmer than I thought I was going to be, however seeing my dad in his suit I had my first burst of tears of the day. Before I knew it, we was running quite behind, so hubbys auntie ushed me into another room for me to continue to get ready in peace and quiet that was a really lovely hour of just my adult bridesmaid popping in and mum and auntie my other sister was dying to see my dress i had told people they wasnt allowed until it was on but she managed to get a glimpse Smiley smile

Before I knew it, it was time for the wedding to start Smiley smile I had my meeting with the registrars who had somehow not received everything I had emailed them so my mum had to rush around like a mad woman trying to find a peice of paper I had took with me with copies of everything on. I was sooo worked up at this stage the registrar had warned the groom haha

I managed my vows without crying - I am so suprised about this as on the run up to the wedding I only had to think about the wedding and I was a sobbing mess Smiley smile My mum and hubbys mum was witnesses and we had somewhere over the rainbow eva cassidy all of me john legend field of gold eva cassidy and how long will I love you ellie goulding and I walked down the aisle to here comes the bride Smiley smile

The photos went without glitch - however i do wish my wedding was an hour or so earlier just so we had more time his uncle was the photographer and did such an amazing job in my opinion for an non pro. My shoes at this point was killing me and I handed my shoes to a cousin haha so i walked round shoe less - thankgod I had a pair of shoes in my room that wasnt strictly wedding shoes but white sandles and i put them on earlier, that helped me dance Smiley smile

The wedding breakfast was lovely so im told - i couldnt eat anything I was soo hot!!

It was a special treat from one of our best men that we was able to have fireworks that really started to end our evening with a bang Smiley smile it was lovely and got so many nice comments. we also treated our guests to a photo booth that i think was used constantly and we also did our own sweetie bar we was lucky to find some sweet jars in BHS sale last year and that saved so much money.

We danced to Bryan adams 'everything I do' its a special song to us, since we met we had always said we would have this as our wedding song Smiley smile I am well known for not being exactly charmed in the 'dancing' skills but people thought we had had dance lessons....

Maybe I was just walking on air!

I am going to post some wedding pictures shortly, but due to husbands job I cant keep them up Smiley sad
