***My wedding report 15/09/12, by Kadence***

Kadence, 4 October, 2012 at 22:15 Posted on Planning 0 26

So a whole month off work has passed in the blink of an eye, we had the most amazing Wedding day! Before I got married I was already looking forward to sharing my report with you guys, so here goes...

I met OH when I was in college - he was 16 and I was 17 in the year above, his best friends were twins that were one of my guy friends younger brothers so when I saw them on a girls night out in Manchester they introduced us. We danced and snogged on the dancefloor to a Busta Rhymes song, and have been inseperable ever since! We moved in together in 2008, and OH popped the question in front of both our families on Christmas day 2010. I think he thought we would be engaged for another 8 years but I definitely had other ideas. Roll on 18 months and we have arrived at the run up to our wedding day.

The Week before;

We both finished work on the Friday, a full week and a day before the wedding. OH's Dad lives in California and had not been to the UK in over 12 years. To say OH was excited to see him was an understatement! We prepped our house for our visitor, who arrived the Monday before the big day. It was so nice for OH to take his Dad around and about, showing him how much the city has changed. Plus, it gave me chance to have a peaceful house to finish my many DIY projects!

It was a nice chilled out week, filled with nice lunches, hair and nail appointments, and I was able to take my time making our wedding cake. Everything ran very smoothly, which is surprising as I am usually on the last minute for everything! OH's Mum took me to her nail salon and treated me to shellac gel nails and twinkle toes, and the lovely girls there had bought bucks fizz and cupcakes along with a card for us - I was so touched as I had never even met them before.

Friday 14th, The day before;

Both our families rallied around to help pack everything up and take to the venue, including all 6 tiers of the cake packed in seperate boxes- we must have been driving 40mph on the motorway! I was able to set it up in a cool room at the venue and was really chuffed with how it turned out. We then nipped back home to pick up the dress and all the other bits for the hotel, said goodbye to the OH and the groomsmen, and along with my mum, OH's mum, my sister, cousin and best friend who were my BM's we made our way back to the hotel to get ready for a girlie meal.

I gave my BM's there gifts before we headed out, and they loved them! The BM bags went down a storm, and they all wanted to wear their bracelets that evening! (My mum wouldn't allow it, haha) We ate at Wagamama's which was delish! We had a couple of glasses of wine, then a Baileys nightcap at the hotel bar before we retired to get some beaty sleep. OH had text me saying he was so excited, and that he would be waiting at the end of the aisle tomorrow.

    The wedding day!!

    I slept really well, and was up around 7am, went to the loo and returned to find my BM sat up squealing! We went down for breakfast with the others, and I managed to eat a good bit. At this point I wasn't really feeling nervous, it hadn't sunk in yet! I was telling everybody to talk about the day to get me excited, as I had put it to the back of my mind so much in the last week so I didn't get too giddy!

    We then went back up to the room to start getting ready. She gave me a card and gift from OH, a beautiful Tiffany bracelet with the word 'love' in delicate silver. I started to well up then as it started to hit me.

    I chose to do my own hair and make up so I made sure I had plenty of time to get ready as I get really stressed if I'm rushing. The TOG turned up at 10am, he was just lovely, and I loved the time spent with my best friend getting all dolled up.

    My mum came in with the rest of the gang with champers, and it was all really relaxed. Before I knew it, my Dad's wife was at the door bringing the flowers in which were gorgeous!! She has only done a couple of courses in floristry and the results were outstanding. My mum helped me into my dress, my beautiful Niece who was my flower girl arrived and then it was time to go. My Dad came into my room and teared up, which got my BM's going- but I was still pretty composed which was surprising!

    When we arrived at the venue I was getting seriously nervous, as in can't breath nervous! I was holding on to my Dad for dear life...it had definitely hit me! Etta James' "At last" came on, and it was time for me to follow my BM's into the ceremony room.

    I held on to my Dad's arm and when it was my turn to go I blurted out "F**k!" How un-lady like, I'm not even a swearer!! At that point I was glad we didn't have a VOG!

    As we walked down, I tried to look at my guests and take it all in but then I heard an "awww" from OH and he burst into tears! That made me wobble but I remained composed, but I could here so many guests start sniffling- men included! My OH is a blokey bloke so I don't think people expected him to be in such a state, bless him. I got to the end of the aisle, kissed my Pops on the cheek and held OH's hand. Through the tears he told me I looked amazing, and I gave his hand another squeeze. OH's step dad did a lovely short reading, followed by my 12 year old step brother who was fantastic and had everybody giggling. He did a poem which started off "If you go to a wedding, here's what it means - no one wears trainers and no one wears jeans..." It was perfect for him and everyone gave him a big round of applause.

    When it came to the vows, the Registrar pronounced our Surname wrong in the part where she said "I Lee Matthew Moridian" instead of Moradian, and OH repeated it the way she pronounced it! That had people giggling, especially when it was my turn and I emphasised "Do take thee Lee Matthew MORADIAN!" It was all over in a heartbeat. We signed the register to Joss Stone covering L.O.V.E, and exited as man and wife to Elbow, One day like this to our guests cheering and whooping. I kind of recall holding my bouquet in the air and saying Finally!!

    We had a Pimms reception in a bar over looking the water front, and we were able to speak to every single guest in this time which I loved. The TOG took us to the nearby gardens to take some pictures, then back for group shots. Before we new it, it was 4pm and time for the Wedding Breakfast. The guests were taken in and we were announced as Mr and Mrs Moradian, then had Black eyed Peas "I gotta feelin'" Playing as we took our seats. At this point the blinds in the room were raised to uncover panoramic views of the city landscape - it was just beautiful and everyone loved how different the venue was. This was the first time me and OH had seen the room set up and we were blown away! My Dad's wife did an amazing job with all the centre pieces, and the popcorn bags I had made really gave the tables a pop of colour. I forgot to mention before that on the Thursday before the Wedding I had the (rather stupid) idea of making everyone a cupcake for their place setting, but I was so glad I did as everyone loved them.

    The food was gorgeous, the speeches were brilliant and everything ran so smoothly. When I finished pudding (Manchester tart, yum!) I had to get my Mum to do something with my dress as I could hardly breath! 20 minutes later we emerge from the disabled toilet, me with my hoop in my hands up in the air, to the whole room cheering - I felt soooo much better after that, I knew it was a size too small!!

    After dinner it was a nice chilled atmosphere of people mingling before the evening guests arrived. From about 7.30pm it was party time! The DJ was spot on and the dancefloor was full, we did our first dance to the Lauren Hill version of "Cant take my eyes off you", then relaxed and partied the night away! Bacon and sausage butties with potato wedges for the evening buffet went down a storm. The guests loved using the balconies around the room as it was a warm evening and the view was just fantastic.

    Before I knew it, it was 1pm and time to go. Those staying at the hotel with us came for a nightcap at the residents bar, then we crashed in bed - shattered!!

    It was the best day I've ever had, and OH agrees. We had a day to chill and say goodbye to OH's Dad who was flying back to the states, and finish our packing. The day after that we jetted off to Mexico for two weeks for what was to be the best holiday of our lives.

    The day was just how I had imagined it - modern, funky and relaxed. I hope you enjoyed reading my report, it was a pleasure to write. And now the fun bit, the photos!! ....

I used to live on the Quays and used to run over that bridge you are on 5 times a week, loved it round there and always thought it would make for some lovely pictures and it does! Congratulations x
